Some parents buy their kid a car when he finishes high school. I bought Todd a derelict RX7 with a dead motor, trashed interior, and beat up body. I also bought an almost new interior, engine and trans from a wrecked 83. He made it into a really nice car.
My son Todd and I are both 6 ft 3, and just don't fit into a rotary truck. I built this extended cab pickup with a ported 13B, RB exhaust header. We did a custom interior with honda CRX seats. Todd drove it for about ten years, recently sold it to a new owner in Winipeg.
The Ford truck was a wrecked 1980 cargo van, rollover, acquired in early 1981 with only 3000 miles. I built the custom cab, 8 ft flatbed and tow setup. It now has about 90,000 miles. The interior is very plush velour, with front and rear seats from an Audi 5000.
Bed can be lowered for easy loading, then raised to desired height for the load or the terrain. This 8 inch lift also allows a handy towing setup that does not require a winch. The money saved in tow bills in the past 20 years for my family and a few friends is enough to recover the entire cost of this project.
