I did a lot of research for my driveshaft back at school, it's a crucial part to this swap and so many dimensions had to be perfect. I began by buying an aluminum driveshaft from a C4 Corvette; this driveshaft measured 27.5 between the centers of the yokes. The rear flange is very important because it is what converts Chevy power into Mazda movement; it is built for a standard 1310 U-joint with the Mazda differential bolt pattern. These can be purchased from Grannys Speed Shop, or from Rockford Driveline #R2-2-3173 (N/A rearend). The tranny yoke is stock. I was a little bit nervous that it wouldnt fit, which would throw my whole summer off, but it ended up being PERFECT!

I was quoted $800 for a custom bent exhaust at a local shop, I decided that was too much, so my dad and I took on the project ourselves. We put the car up on two saw horses at the shop with a forklift and started taking some measurements. I wanted to use 2.5 pipe, but compromised with 2.25 pipe for clearance and because I was told that duals of this size supports 500 hp. We started at the headers and worked our way back, we built in an X-pipe which equalizes the pressure in the tubes and used the stock exhaust hangers for the setup. Turned out pretty good for a bunch of newbies! The headers are actually built for the S10 V8 conversion, the Summit part number is HED-69640. They are quite cheap at $135, and you get what you pay for... the flages are very thin and the primaries are a little small, but they will fit and the do get the job done!

For mufflers, I chose Magnaflow. When I first got them installed, I thought the car was WAY too quiet... probably because I was running straight pipes up to that point. But soon the tone grew on me, now adays I absolutely love it. But just in case, I insalled some exhaust cutouts which are insalled before the diff because this was where they fit best. They are not electric so you have to get under the car and unbolt them... but they sure sound great when they are open!

hey man whats up with u...most peoples pages just have stupid useless wording that waste your time, but i just read like 15 pages n every bit was worth it---u did a hell of a job on that rx7, i found your page by searching lt1 motor swap in the lil search engine thing--- what are some pointers i need to know? i already pulled the huge ass 472 out of the caddy, i wanna do a ls1 or lt1 swap i know it's lighter and gonna have more horse power, but i think the lt1 is gonna b easier to find because it's a zillion bubble caprices and impalas in the dc,md,va area---can you kinda give me a run down of what i have to do to make it work
