This is my SL2 at the NOPI Alabama show after I installed her new Powerplant. The Body's got 190,000+ on her. I saved my poor Satty from an untimely death at the local salvage yard. With less than $1000 invested (including puchase, tax, title, and lic.) she runs like a champ. The new MOMO's got about 60k on her. With the lower mileage and head work, she screams! I've also done a SOHC tranny conversion, and it DOES make a world of difference.
The view from the rear. As you can see, right now she's pretty much stock. Since these pics were taken, I installed a non-air bag column in the car to accommidate a custom wheel. I've installed a custom over-lay on the gauge pod, and hand painted all the Saturn emblems (which took 6 hours!) There are a few clues of other mods done. I've also got a love for Audi's and VW's, so some styling ques get pulled from them, like the roof mount antenna.

This is the picture of when I first got the Satty. She had a blown head gasket that I replaced, but spun a rod bearing on the way down to a SPOC South get together. She made 178 miles of a 180 mile trip before she locked up. After the "tow" back to the house, I installed the second of three motors that ended up in my car. I was so proud of my yellow block, but fate would not have it.
Here's a picture of the second engine. It's actually new, but the donor head was bad. Got the process of R&R'ing the motor down to an art. This block now makes its home in my friend Brandon's XtremeSaturnSL2. His car is so much uglier than mine...NOT!
The new dog bone torque mounts don't hold up well on the track - even more so when you miss a shift. After that unfortunate event, I swaped out the DOHC Trans to the SOHC version. Closer gearing! Much better! The butt-dyno approved of the change right away.
Well I'm just getting this thing going, so keep checking, the progress will be documented here.
