Radar5's 1967 Pontiac Firebird

The car has been restored to original or at least "period correct" (with only a couple of exception like the sound system). I just finished the paint job in the Spring '04, and it is the original color for this car(regimental red). It's missing the original black vinyl top that I had every intention of putting back on but this look has really grown on me. I finished the top as if I weren't going to cover it back up so it looks original as it is. I may leave it off(?). The picture above captures the color of the car more accurately than the ones below. It really is Regimental red rather than the more orange color shown below

I bought this car from a neighbor (1st owner) back in 1983 and had it for only a year and a half. In 1984 I got married and moved to arizona, and since it didn't have air conditioning I sold it.

I then bought it back again in 1997 from the same guy I sold it to 13 years earlier. It took 3 years before I had the time and money to start working on it. Four years after beginning, it is all but completely restored.

I did most of the work myself, including the disassembly/assembly, interior, gas tank, brakes, engine compartment, brightwork, and all the prep and finish work for the paint (grind, sand, sand, sand, and sand some more). I had a friend replace the quarters and fix a couple of other spots of "cancer". He also shot the paint since I didn't have painting equipment.

The paint is a single-stage Urethane that color-sanded out very nicely, though I did cut through on a couple of edges that needed to be fixed. I still need to replace some of the trim that, although it polished up very nicely, still has a few dings and dents that I wasn't able to get out completely

My first attempt at reupolstery work seemed to turn out well.

Nice firebird. I just bought a 1967 that was sitting behind someone's storage shed for a long time. I am gonna restore it and hopefully it'll look as good as yours.
