Hey, the plans for this pukey Firebird have changed. Instead of putting in the Chevy 350, I'm putting in a Pontiac 400. I got the engine(it runs) with a turbo 400 for $200. From the same guy I got a set of Hooker Super Comp. Headers for $50 and a Edelbrock P4B(Performer)for $60. I installed a Comp Cam Xtreme Energy 274 cam into the 400 with a new timing set from Comp Cam as well. I bought 3:42 rear gears but I was given a '78 Z28 that I still have to go pick up that has a Muncie 4-speed, a Chevy 327, and a posi-rearend. I don't know what the gears are in it yet.

In this picture you can kind of see the mags my father got me for easter last year. He got them for $80 with the rubber on them.

I've only messed with a handful of indian head motors but I don't think any of them came forged except MAYBE pre-musclecar era stuffs. you REALLY don't need forged pistons on a street motor unless you have nitrous. the money would be better spent on something else like gears or block machining or what have you. it is nice to say you have forged pistons though! I'm looking for lightweight pistons for my olds buildup.

Pontiac pistons were forged in the early years, I think from 55 to 63, the cast pistons are fine unless you are going to use n0x, blower or turbo with alot of boost. I hope this helps.
