december 30 2004 - i have been going through withdrawal this winter, hehe. two big storms hit since my last update, and completely knocked the 240 out of submission (summer tires, lol). it finally cleared up today and i took her for a drive, the brakes locked up a little upon first driving but bled themselves out. runs like a beauty. found out my profec b was configured a little weird so i fulled around with it, and omg the car pulls. maybe its because i haven't driven it in a few weeks but the car really is insanely fast, ESPECIALLY for an untuned stock turbo setup. i think im gonna get my hands on an safc and add in a little fuel, people with similiar setups have gained about 15whp and 30 ft-lbs just by adding in some fuel, so it should be a worthy upgrade. i also installed my racing harnesses and c-pillar bar, and the setup is AWESOME. talk about holding you into the seat, i can't move once im all in hehe. i love this car. i'll have pics up maybe tomorrow when its supposed to be 55 degrees outside :) in other news my vlsd came and is now sitting in the garage. im so happy!!! it looks brand spanking new. i can't wait to put it on in a couple months and get some drag radials so i can run my mid-high 12's. also i got a bunch of black oem interior pieces of my friend andrew along with some floor mats, and put them all in, and its so much quieter in here now. i laid a little dynamat in the rear 3/4 and i think it helped a lot. i'll probably add some in under the rear seats and in the back because its really light and works great. all i need now are some tinted windows and rims.
december 9 2004 - well i came to the conclusion that my $30 ebay harnesses do actually suck. i ordered 3" RCI 6-pt racing harnesses along with a c-pillar bar to mount them on. the harnesses look sick and the bar is definitely rare, so it's sure to turn some eyes as well. i also got a power steering assembly with bracket on the way so my power steering will soon be here! i still have all the lines from the swap, really all i need is this. i found a stock vlsd off a canadian 240sx that is non-abs so it'll bolt right up! this will be shipping out tomorrow as well. ITS RAINING CAR PARTS!!! i think i needed quite a few parts to really get this car where i want it. with all the above in place i think the car will absolutely rock. all i will really need is an alignment, buff job and a hatch. then possibly this spring some gold nismo's :) woohah
november 27 2004 - FINALLY took some good new pics. its lookin good.
BEFORE/AFTER ENTIRE PROJECT
november 22 2004 - im just about ready to drop the back down. i just have to build enough energy to go outside haha. the car's coming up for an oil change soon (109xxx on the clock), but i checked the oil level and it's the same since i last changed it and the oil looks like new. i had to cancel my order for the carbon fiber hood and hatch because its been three weeks and i still don't have either. im a little p'd off at the company, but at the same time im happy because i'd rather have that money spent on something else (cough cough rims tires cough ;) haha. anyways things are good and its just about winter. the maxima's ready for the cold season but it doesn't look like we'll have a bad winter. im happy with where the car's at... its doing good.
november 19 2004 - my good friend josh made a trade for my nismo coilovers for his clean black interior carpet and seats. looks amazingly better with all black around. last major piece to convert the brown>black interior. still need to do the headliner and find a few misc pieces, but so far it's coming out nice. so far this november has been a blessing with warm mild weather, hopefully december and january are the same so i can keep the 240 unstored :)
november 18 2004 - the back coilovers went on yesterday. dayum. its sick. still very smooth and not bouncy that much at all, and fully stiff. NO BODY ROLL WHATSOEVER. i push down on front and back of the car, and the only movement up and down is the tires. its stiff. i can only imagine what a nice set of sway bars and more suspension upgrades would do. all i need now are some rims and tires and im just about good to go. all over the car feels amazingly better with the coilovers.
november 16 2004 - of course right after i buy some nismo coilovers, my friend calls me up and says he's selling his d2's. i couldn't pass that up... even though i already ordered the nismo's. hopefully my friend will buy them off me and put them to good use. the d2's have 9/7 spring rates. i picked them up early evening and put the fronts on a couple hours later with the help of a friend (d1 derek!). it took a couple hours to adjust the camber and get it sitting right. i can now only fit two fingers inbetween the wheel well of my car and the tire. its fairly dumped. and the spring rates haven't changed at all! the d2's are designed differently so that you adjust only the bottom part which connects to the strut, not the springs. took it for a ride, and its one of the smoothest riding cars ever! even with the 9/7 spring rates the car is soo smooth, even over bumps. on acceleration and around turns there is no body roll or movement at all. im glad i took these over the teins, they are a major improvement. i cant believe how well the suspension increased for the better over stock. i'll put the backs on tomorrow morning sometime and it'll be ready to roll (til i can get it all aligned...). overall im VERY satisfied, it has been one of the best purchases i have made for the car so far. ill have pics up tomorrow.
november 15 2004 - my precious blue pullies are gone so i can return to an all black engine bay with silver highlighting. its coming out nice. i found some nismo coilovers with camber plates for a good price, so hopefully those will come before the end of the week. the hood is in stock, but there's a holdup on the carbon fiber hatch. hopefully by tomorrow they will get it in so they can ship it out already.
november 11 2004 - haven't updated in a while, sorry. i tubular manifold cracked so i threw it inthe garbage. they are completely worhtless. i went back to the nice and strong cast iron manifold that i love. other than that, i finally got my profec b spec ii. it's all it's cracked up to be. I LOVE IT. boost reading is great and the car pulls SUBSTANTIALLY harder. every gear is pulling very hard (especially 1st, 2nd and 3rd!). it was time to see what my car was made of. went to backstreet performance in medina, ohio to dyno my car (great shop!), mainly to check how much hp it was putting out with the new controller but also to check out my a/f to see how well this thing is tuned. lets just say YES!!! :) first pull was at 14.2psi - 249.2whp/246.7tq - a/f 11.9:1 at 7k! i was mighty happy not only about the numbers it put out but how well the mines ecu is tuning the car. air/fuel is really safe at even around 6k it was a bit rich at 11.5:1. decided to play around with the gain and boost settings with the controller, and made another 5 pulls. after all of this, put gain at 30% and set at 46% and managed to get a whopping .2 more hp (lol), but a gigantic 8whp throughout 4k to 5k and 15 ft-lbs torque at 4k, all at only 15.4 psi (only about 1psi more!). horsepower came in sooner, but airfuel leaned up a tad (about .5 in most places), but still retained a 12.1 airfuel at 7k. so i figure if i keep psi at around 14 and turn gain up as far as i can, i'll have an extremely responsive car that creates great boost and is tuned perfect. i could eventually get an safc and add insome fuel from 3k to 5.5k and boost my tq number, but for now im really happy! numbers ended up at 249whp/255tq spiking to 15.4psi.
november 2 2004 - go bush! my guages are gone, and i ordered the profec b to monitor/control boost. im getting a fairly good deal (even though it still costs $$$) on a VIS carbon fiber hatch and hood, so im going for it. i wanted to be faster, and i want my car to have some looks and style, so this is the best of both worlds. and my rusty hatch gives me a reason to ;) im also trying to get another couple carbon fiber things onto the car (im a huge fan). other than that my exhaust leak is HUGE now, i cant even drive the car until i get it fixed. thats good the weather sucks outside, and i need to get to work...
october 31 2004 - happy halloween! after too much work trying to get the rear s14 seats to fit, i have given up. i'm on my way to going gaugeless... i'm trading my precious greddy guage setup for some cams and cash. im going to go with a profec b to monitor boost, and i should be all set. the cams should add some nice horsies. i've been wanted to go gaugeless for a little bit now just because i like simplicity, and it keeps thing sleeper.
october 30 2004 - got a good deal on some rear s14 black leather seats from a local guy. boy are they in good condition! now i just have to find the fronts (will be hard). soon im pretty sure im going to repaint some of the interior stuff after sanding/primering them, something i didn't do before. after that im getting some new black molded carpet along with some new floor mats, and the interior should be good to go. all that's left is some suspension and rims, and power steering, and im good to go! im working on trying to find a pump bracket, i should know in a day or two. ill have pics up of the back once they are properly installed (just have to drill a couple holes and get some spacers).
october 27 2004 - finished repainting my valve cover. the gold finish didn't turn out to my liking. it was cool, but the paint didn't paint too well and i didn't prep it good enough. that and i just wanted a change, and love black valve covers. fixed the turbo outlet leak, found a few more rattle areas that were fixed, replace one of the broken bolts for valve cover (actually got all new black allen-wrenched bolts), cleaned bay again, installed a new resonated test pipe (made things a little quieter), and installed the buzzer for my gauges. took a few days to do everything but came out real nice. i love the engine bay now, it looks even cleaner than before.
october 23 2004 - found a slight leak by turbo outlet when playing around with the o2 sensors. found out that my turbo outlet already had a bung for the a/f gauge, there was just an adapter over it for the small one! that means i dont have to take all the crap off to weld in a new bung. popped the greddy sensor in, wired up the stock o2 sensor wire, and all seems well. the air/fuel gauge is now pretty much working (at higher rpms/egt's in 3rd/4th gear). i think i still have to heat cycle it and play around with the settings. a/f is coming up at around 12.0 and dropping to 11.5/11.0 above 6k rpms. that looks purty good. bought some new stainless steel bolts for the turbo outlet, so i'll pop those on in a few and the exhaust should be all sealed up (and all my underhood noise will be gone! :)
october 14 2004 - got rid of some under hood noise by removing the unneeded upper timing chain guide. got my jspeed (b&m copy) shortshifter today, and the verdict is... it's fabulous! its so tight and shifting is extremely percise. i don't know how the b&m feels, but i can't imagine its any better than this shifter. the whole feel of the car has changed, driving is just a delight. i took a few new photos last night as well, here you go:
october 7 2004 - spent the last few days painting my whole interior flat black instead of crap brown. looks wonderful. still a few minor pieces i have to paint, but it looks great. i got rid of the very annoying rattle that i thought was coming from under my dash, when it turned out to be a loose clip from my engine bay banging against the firewall. other than that, i raced an 01/02 cobra from a light (kitted, rims, tinted windows, lowered). 1st he pulled about 1/2 car, 2nd i pulled a good 1 car, and 3rd i pulled another 2 cars or so before i had to lay off (had lots left in 3rd gear but didn't want to get pulled over). and this was with the silencer in the exhaust! all you hear is the turbo and bov, the exhaust is really quiet. i love it. i do notice some topend loss though, so ill eventually take it out again, i just wanted to test it out to see how it sounds. im happy with the car. everything's going pretty good. now i just have to focus more on work, get a shortshifter and teins, find a girl, and my life will be complete hehehe.
october 3 2004 - well, since my whole back interior was out (searching for rattles) and i had to help the family prepare for open house, i had to get the interior back in the car and out of the way. while i was at it, i figured what the hell, why not try the interior paint (i don't dig the brown interior look). the paint works GREAT. flat black baby. i like it a lot, you can't even tell it was ever brown. hopefully sometime this week i can pull out the dash (find the other big rattle), paint that and a couple other minor pieces, and finally have a full black interior. its lookin good so far. other than that, the car is a'rippin. as its getting colder outside, and the car is moving faster and faster. i even chirped 3rd gear today with a passenger :) sometime before this year is up i'd like to take it to the track once more and possibly get a dyno.
october 1 2004 - today was an interesting day at the track. i made it out to norwalk as expected. first run busted out a email@example.com. then a 13.8, 13.9, 14.4. then i adjusted my rear tire pressure to 22psi, removed the air filter and held the gears longer (all the way to redline). firstname.lastname@example.org (new mph high), email@example.com. track was closing up, i was the second last car to go down... got one more run in. busted out a 2.218 60', 8.774 1/8, and a firstname.lastname@example.org!!! i made the 5.0 next to me look like a ford tempo (14.7). im so ecstatic with this run. i was setting out for a 13.5 and at first was disappointed that i didn't hit it. after the final run, i really thought i was close to the 13.5 because i was scooting off the line and just ripped every gear perfect. but i was really shocked to see a 13.4 when i got the timeslip. keep in mind, this is with STOCK tires, open diff, and STOCK turbo/injectors/maf. i was tearing it up! track conditions were perfect and im very glad i went because to get 7 runs in at norwalk is a very rare occasion. great night.
september 29 2004 - bad day... everything is going wrong.. then i go to the track, bust out a 13.7@104, and everything gets better :) that was with a fairly crappy 2.3 60' and 1 bar of boost. im happy with the run. ill probably go to norwalk friday to see a better time.
here are the runs. keep in mind this is dragway 42... bad bad track :)

september 27 2004 - my turbo timer stopped working yesterday, so i unplugged it. found out today that one of the wires started burning up.. somehow it came into contact with another wire and went haywire. rewired that, pulled out my sony mp3 player (skipped pretty badly) and put the stock radio back in for now, pulled out the safc (dont need it, tuned with ecu) and also pulled out my techtom cmx100 (really dont need it with the koyo radiator and dual fans). i also found a spare cigarette adapter, so i cut it in half and wired the radar detector wires underneath the dash into the ignition, so it turns on when i turn the key. looks fabulous and works a lot better. im still looking for a black hatch and center piece, but none found yet. im really just about done with the car, all i need are rims and coilovers. the car is sweet and drives wonderfully. im glad i pulled out a few of the gadgets in the interior, i can now concentrate more on driving and how awesome the car is. i raced a dude and his 500whp z32 on the hiway and he only took me by 1-2 car lengths from 60-120 (significant lag). i love fast spooling turbos.
september 24 2004 - sorry haven't updated this page in a couple days, ive been having too much fun with the car. boost controller is in and set to .83 bar (12 lbs). there are no words for how fast the car is now. it could be in my head (and most likely is, as it always is with your car's speed...), but this car is faster than my old one, and that one ran a 13.6@106. i did a run with the greddy turbo timer's 0-100km feature, and it came out to 4.63 seconds. before i had the boost controller, it came out between 5.1 and 5.7 seconds, so i know that the car is at least 1/2sec faster 0-100km than it was before. the car now has complete passing power from 2nd gear on, when before it was really only mediocre performance in 3rd and 4th gear. .6 bar hits at around 3000rpms and full boost by 3400rpms, when without the boost controller .6 bar didn't come in until about 4000rpms. im crediting this to boost creep with the stock actuator. if i punch the pedal in any gear, the car just rips. what this means is that im going to have to go to dragway 42 tonight and see what speed it traps in at (the et's are usually garbage at 42 -- off by a good .25 seconds). ill let ya'll know later tonight. now, as far as im concerned, this is enough power for the car. i don't plan on doing any other modifications to the car's engine. anytime from 3500rpms on the car just flies. this is more than enough for me (......... for now ;)
september 21 2004 - washed car. new pics.
september 20 2004 - decided to order a lower shores performance manual boost controller. mainly because it has almost the same performance benefit as the profec b, but for more than $250 less. i will eventually get the profec b, but i really need the power this year and money is a little tight. i had this boost controller on my last car, and even set at stock boost the boost creep was wayy down, and at 13psi the car was definitely a 12 second car. rearranged my grounding kit again and actually set it up correctly now.
september 18 2004 - took it to dragway 42 to settle what has been going on in my mind for a while. best run was a 14.5@100mph. just about exactly what i thought it'd do... keep in mind, this is stock boost with an open differential. i've decided that i definitely need a boost controller so come monday, i think i will get the much awaited greddy profec b spec 2. my last car did a 14.3 at stock boost but it was at norwalk (much better track then 42) and had a mbc at stock boost, so my 14.5 is just about on par with a 14.3 at norwalk. also note that i only got two runs in, as it was very busy at the track. all i need to do now is add in a couple psi, and take it to norwalk... and the 13's should come. overall a fairly good day.
september 16 2004 - put in the grounding kit. very cool, brushes up the left side of my engine bay. waited about a month for it to come. didn't know where to put the wires, but i did the best i could. new pic of the interior as well.
september 15 2004 - spent a solid 4 hours rewiring my engine bay. pulled almost all the positive cable back into the car and changed the position of the positive cable. hooked the fans up to an amp/relay and taped up some other wires. its looking good and im really happy with it so far. here's also a couple pics of my revised interior and exterior. i also got a new head unit (some sony mp3 player that is SWEEET) because i was feeling depressed yesterday due to paying another ticket and a few other things. i just hooked it up but haven't taken a good picture yet. possibly tomorrow...
september 13 2004 - i got a pivot super fan temp controller, overnighted from intakeone.com. wired it up.. the temps are erratic, took 4 hours to wire, and to top it off the fans never came on. what a piece of crap. and on top of that i paid $50 for it overnighted! boy was i mad today, until i wired up the fans to the ignition. they work great and temps are perfect! (179-188). i also spent a couple hours tidying up and rearranging my wiring as well as a hanging ignitor chip. everything looks great, and runs great. perfect. finally. now i need a good nights rest :) just about time to get a boost controller and hit the dyno.
september 10 2004 - i have to say for stock boost im very happy with the performance. i believe im still running pretty rich too, so once i hit the dyno and lean out a little it should pull real nice and i can use the afc to tweak it out, but ill wait for my boost controller and the o2 sensor to be heated up. regarding the fans, sometimes they come on right on time, sometimes they come on later, and they are just all over the place. i think the problem is because it is taking the temps off the lower radiator hose. im having a pivot fan controller/temp gauge overnighted which is fully adjustable and reads off the stock sensor. i should have gotten this from the gitgo, too bad since its friday i have to wait until monday to get it, but i think it will defintely solve my problem. the cooling system has been bled properly, the fans just dont kick on. the upper radiator hose or stock sensor is much more consistent and reliable.
september 9 2004 - the car is still RIPPING. ripping ripping ripping. the car moves like my last one did, which im very happy about because that one was trapping high 100mph speeds. next mod will be a boost controller so i can rock 12psi. other than that, to solve the overheating problem i mixed in some zerex flush fluid and 50/50. the fans still come on a little erratictly but before 210F which is my limit. i believe the cooling system will eventually flush itself out so they always come on 195F. i fixed the lights that come on when the drivers door opens, so they always come on when open and OFF when closed. touched up little body blemishes. pretty much all it needs now is a nice buff but the weather is starting to make a turn for the worse so im really not going to worry about that until february/march because winter is bill paying time.
september 7 2004 - starter prob turned out to be an unplugged plug to the starter... yes it was a long weekend lol. tried bleeding the coolant system after filling it up with 50/50 and water wetter. worked to some avail, but the fans still didn't come on until above 200. i will burp out the system again tomorrow, i tried a new way today and it seems to kinda work. i also found the one main HUGE problem with my car, and why it wasn't as fast as my last one: an open vacuum line. yep, another stupid, simple fix. plugged it up... and it RIPS!!! this was an extremely disappointing day in the morning and an extremely happy day by night. i have to thank my friend derek who found the prob, thanks man. its finally running almost perfect and pulls harder than my last one. now all i need is a boost controller and some dr's, and here come the 12's.
september 6 2004 - first oil change at 105,874 miles (exactly 1,000 miles after swap). from now on only mobile 1 synthetic 10w30 goes in this baby, with k&n oil filters. flushed coolant from flushing fluid with water and took it for a drive. o2 sensor for a/f gauge is now hooked up. during the whole drive after a long hard 10 min drive on the hiway to warm it up, at wot all it read was 8.0, which is excessively rich. my egt's were hitting 850C so it looks as if timing is fine. the car is ripping but still doesn't feel as quick as my last one. could possibly be the weight of the car, but i'll have someone else look at it to check things over. it really should be just as fast as my last one because i have a couple more mods than that one and it was a much cared for engine. tomorrow ill flush the coolant again with 50/50. the starter hasn't worked over the last couple days (i rollstarted it from 2nd gear), so either some wiring came disconnected or the solenoid went bad. ill look at it sometime later because for some reason im just tired after the long weekend. i got a ticket from a highway trooper while warming up my o2 sensor which sucks, because i have a lot of points now and another $200 gone for the ticket, but it could have been a lot worse...
september 1 2004 - my gosh, its already september. took car to another mechanic to have shuttering looked at, and it turns out that slick didn't tighten the bolts to the driveshaft all the way. went for a drive... its all gone. the only problem i have, which is sort of a big one, is that the tranny has leaks in a few places, mainly the rear main seal. i really don't know how it's leaking because i ordered a new rear main seal to be put in. ill probably have to take it back to slick to have him take a look at it. other than that the car's running superb.
august 30 2004 - lifted valve cover and reset timing manually. LOTS better. creates boost quicker, and egt's are maxing out at 800C compared to 900C. af gauge should be here in a couple days so i can monitor my fuel ratio. test pipe is on. still some slight shuttering happening in 2nd gear low rpms, im thinking the ujoints. will most likely fix that tomorrow since there's good weather coming up and i don't want to miss it by breaking another driveshaft. couple more days and it'll be almost there! :)
august 27 2004 - brake lights are fixed. timing seems almost perfect. the car is moving really well. im going to take it easy on her a little until i get my a/f gauge, because i really want to know what ratio im at. my manifold is changing to all sorts of neat colors, right now its a purplish yellow blue. my wheels are painted as well as my calipers. the radiator has been flushed 8 times, and it seems it was really dirty, cruddy, and full of air bubbles. my overheating problem has been cured. today is a good day, the project is really coming along. im going to take it easy on her the next month, and stablizer her with the present mods.
august 26 2004 - well supposedly i have my timing set (according to the nissan consult) and when i step on the gas my egt's hit 900-920.. then i layed off it because i got scared. i just got a greddy air/fuel gauge, for the main purpose that i really never have to hit a dyno and i never have to worry about leaning out and melting/burning stuff up. should match REAL nice with the Greddy EGT gauge -- i have my own tuning system now, yay! i failed echeck by more than 4 times over the limit, but thats probably because i screwed with the timing and it just f'ed up. my efans come on and are fine when driving, but when i idle they don't come on! i have to switch the e-fan thermostat to either the stock sensor or upper radiator hose. i painted my wheels graphite (only two so far, hence no pics lol). they came out good, and definitely look better than they did. calipers are getting painted blue. the car looks SOOO much better with the blue calipers and gunmetal wheels, i might not even need wheels now. my new tires are finally on, and i probably need an alignment but am waiting until i get my suspension (prolly a couple more months from now). other than that, im just still glad i have the car back home.
august 17 2004 - good news and bad news. good news is that i found out that the problem was with the maf. plugged in a new one... RUNS LIKE A CHAMP! pulls harder than my last car. i mean it hauls (and this is all on stock boost with a cat). bad news is that in second gear the car shook hard. while driving it today, stepped on the gas in second and CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK --- loudest sound i heard from this car. i thought i lost a rear wheel (or both). pulled over and noticed that my driveshaft is laying on the ground. not good. towed it back to mechanic to have him take a look at it, i'll know more about it later. i knew it was going, i just didn't expect it to go that soon. im glad this didn't happen on the hiway, otherwise my car could have flipped and i would have been toast.
august 16 2004 - new pics. ditched the red harnesses because they really didn't match the rest of the car.
august 15 2004 - detailed the car's exterior for a good 5-6 hours. im beat. still trying to figure out the problem, its not much better than it was yesterday after another 40 mi on the car. maybe it needs some more miles, maybe it needs some new injectors and/or timing. who knows.. i got time now that my baby's home :)
august 14 2004 - got it back home. swap came out just beautiful. i have some kind of fuel problem when i try to floor it, i think i may have one or more clogged injectors. i'll run some injector cleaner tomorrow to see if that clears it up, otherwise im going to have to diagnose it somehow. other than that, i drove it a good 2 hours and put about 80 miles on it. runs like a champ. here are some pics of my interior as well. one of the best days of my life!!!
august 13 2004 - of course it didn't happen. im picking it up tomorrow. in other news, my techtom gauge came in (VERY SWEET) and i setup my turbo timer. so far so good.
august 12 2004 - well, chuki sidemarkers are missing the brackets to screw the lights in, and i tried the usdm ones but they make the bulb lay on the lense which isn't good. ill have to find some connectors for them or find some other sidemarkers with the connector. on the other hand the turn signals went in fine, but i had to rewire them with the usdm bulb connectors because the jdm ones were kinda screwed up. the crush washers for the coolant line weren't in stock at nissan, so im having them overnighted. jgycustoms had greddy underdrive pulleys in stock at a decent price, along with a decent shipping rate, so those are being overnighted as well. my techtom is scheduled to be dropped off tomorrow. i also picked up a set of sylvania silverstar headlight assemblies (best headlight bulbs ever), and some silver paint for the wheels (still not sure if ill paint them silver though). so far so good, im still hoping to drive it home tomorrow.
august 11 2004 (night) - motor started up today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wasn't expecting that to happen until thursday or friday. its a good thing because there are a couple things wrong with it (coolant line crush washers are bad going to turbo, and power steering pump leaks badly). im getting the crush washers at nissan tomorrow and we're going to use the ka power steering pump. just a lil prob: the sr p/s pump doesn't have a pulley with a bolt in it (?), so i need an sr pulley. upgrade time! im overnighting a set of greddy underdrive pulleys. i really wanted to do this mod but not til later --- i guess later is now. my goal is to drive the car home by friday (the 13th). check out the intake matt made below. COMPLETE DOPE.
august 11 2004 (morning) - the turn signals and sidemarkers came today! the side markers are sooo small... in other news, there's been a slight delay at the shop. the car should be ready to startup by tomorrow or so.
august 7 2004 - almost done. stay tuned. i did rip off the mudflaps today :)
august 1 2004 - decided to do some exterior styling ;) i cant wait to get some chuki turn signals and side markers so i can go for that full chuki look. decided to screw the body kit idea because i'd rather spend the money on suspension and an lsd.
july 29 2004 - wiring, tranny, tension rods, and fmic piping are in. decided to upgrade the fan to dual flex-a-lites because i like them sooo much :) all that the car needs now is an intake, hooked up gauges, oil catch can, fuel pump and fluids and it'll be ready to crank. mechanic welded a bung for my fan thermostat right into the radiator, instead of putting it into the bottom radiator hose! he also did a cool welding job to fit the bov into the fender well (90 degree bend that still allows the bov to be screwed on and off). so far the swap has been going great. im so pumped to hear the rfl once again :) startup date will probably be august 3rd or 4th. cross your fingers and pray for my motor! i know i am.
july 26 2004 - motor is in!!! so is fmic, radiator, heat wrap, etc. a couple more days and i'll have it running and ready to boost.
july 22 2004 - it was finally time to do my valve cover. i stripped it completely down to the metal and gave it bronze paint with graphite flake lettering. i think it will touch up the bay quite a bit.
july 19 2004 - found out my smic is bent and probably leaking, and told my head to go screw itself if it thought i really was going to stick to the smic. im buying a greddy vspl tomorrow and a koyo aluminum radiator, along with a turbo xs h-rfl (real f'n loud) bov. the brakes are in as well as the exhaust. wiring harness should come in a couple days. everything's bolted up to the motor, just need to paint the valve cover and its ready to be dropped in. should have her up and running sometime next week.
who said the racing harnesses are overkill for my car???!?!? :)
july 6 2004 - all parts have arrived and are ready to be installed. wiring harness has been sent away to get rewired and all bolts have arrived after a one week delay. strong belief that the whole swap will be finished less than 30 days of picking up the chassis :D
june 30 2004 - ka is gone!!!!! a little degreasing and painting to clean things up a little
june 21 2004 - purchased this car with a blown engine (104,874 miles) for $800 in akron, ohio. this is my third 240, and my last one (im keeping it forever :) )
i love 240s (especially s13s). i think they are the best rwd two-seater turbo available for the price. and they are sooooo fun to drive...
