This page is the DVD install
I've been slacking on updates, but here's all of the relevant stuff for Update #3:

In update #1 I showed the LCD housing construction which still isn't done yet. In #2 I showed my deck install. In this one, I'm going to show the progress of my DVD player install.

The plan is to install it where the center vents in the dash are.

Here's the dash after I cut the vent housing off:

Here's the flat panel cut to fit:

I cut a slit in the plastic for the lip of the cage to rest in. The top of the cage will be held in place with plumber's strapping:

Here's the dvd player mounted. The pic sucks but you get the idea:

The trim ring will need to be trimmed down so that the dashpad will fit. Most likely, the dash pad will need to be trimmed a little bit too. Once I get it all mounted, I'm going to make a dummy plate to cover the dvd player. If I can, I'm going to make it out of the piece I cut off, complete with stock vents. If not, I'll just make a flat plate.

The trim ring surrounding the dvd player will also be routed and have screw holes added so that it looks the same as the stock trim ring around the radio & heater controls.

----------------------------------------

Ok folks... here's some more progress. Tonight I bolted the dash pad to the dashboard so I could finish cutting down the trim plate. I also set the lcd housing into place for a pic, but it's not really in the right spot because the dash has to be cut for it to be recessed a little.

Once everything is finished, I'll cut the screw holes into the plate, as well as route the edges so that it'll match the trim ring around the radio & heater controls. Now I've got to get off my ass and finish the LCD housing.
