Engine:

Took the RB I was running out of the gold 240

This is what happens when timing is advanced too much, you get detonation....not good. All six pistons were all worn out, some lost diameter and hit the cylinder walls.

RB20DEThybridnut's 1991 Nissan 240SX RB20DEThybridnut's 1991 Nissan 240SX

major piston flop, sounded like a knocking con rod when this happened, all six con rods were tight when I took it appart....

RB20DEThybridnut's 1991 Nissan 240SX

So block needed oversize and cylinder head is also worn out the same as the pistons are. The crankshaft is in excellent shape, I will reuse this one since the spare I bought had a turned con rod bearing on it.

The spare engine. The head and block are mint, no mileage at all. Six good pistons also, yeasssss. Took the bad rod and replaced it with a good rod out of my old engine.

Going with Nissan OEM piston rings, so far they hold plenty of power.
