This is my super-stealth mobile command landcraft, a 95 Chevy G20 with Explorer Limited conversion package and my own custom additions. Bought it in June of 2001 w/ 48k miles and have put on about 50k more. My idea in adding all my nifty junk to the van is to add loads of technology and entertainment without losing the classic styling of the leather/wood interior, and maintaining the high-style, low-profile exterior. Quick rundown of what's goin' on inside:
Clarion DXZ815MP CD/MP3 head unit;
USAcoustics 100x2 amp driving Infinity Kappa 693.5 6x9s;
Pioneer 5"s in dash & tweeters in overhead console;
Audiobahn A3201T 300x2 amp driving Audiobahn ABP10T dual 10" bandpass box;
Kenwood tape deck head unit;
Four Kenwood 5" speakers (2 for TV, 2 for cassette deck);
Xenarc MC-SC1 P3 1GHz, 512MB, 20GB 30GB 40GB & 250GB HDDs, DVD vanputer running WinXP and MediaEngine with music, video, Routis GPS, ATI RF remote and 400+ emulated games;
Two Xenarc 700TSV 7" touchscreen monitors;
NEC 15" LCD monitor;
Video-to-SXGA Converter + TV tuner;
Audiovox VCP;
Nintendo Gamecube;
Cobra CB radio;
Cobra in-dash radar detector;
Aims 1250W AC/DC inverter;
SurePower battery isolator;
Diehard van/SUV battery;
Two Optima Yellow Top batteries;
Two UniSolar 21W solar panels;
SunSaver 6 solar charge controller;
Power sofabed;
Rear heat/AC;
Sunroof;
Little twinkly mood lighting;
Optx Neon;
Home-made super-stealth blackout curtains.
Everything is wired to the Optimas. Individual rocker switches for monitors, amps, Clarion head unit, and neon lighting (all can be turned on/off independently without having the key in).
Oh yeah... and leather... all leather.
Future work:
Better mounting for passenger monitor; build custom center console to house computer & upgrade crappy wood I used on amp rack and inverter; upgrade all speakers/subs/amps to Infinity Kappas; add rearview camera; maybe more lights and junk.
Check page 2 & 3 for the pics so far.
Update 9/9/04: Rolled over to 100,000 miles!!! Unfortunately, the ride to Burning Man didn't put me over the mark. I went to work and back (Alameda to San Jose) three times afterward, and got home tonight at 999,993. I wanted to be able to take a pic, so instead of hitting it on the freeway on the way to work tomorrow, I went out for dinner and drove around Alameda for about 20 mins. I pulled into my driveway at 100,000.2.
