Welcome,
first of all - excuse my English. I´m joyning in to see and discuss the differences between styling a car in the US and Germany. Particularly Volkswagen. In the begining there´re only two older pictures of my ride (Spring 2003).
08/09/2005 - Over a year has gone, but I wasn´t able to update this page cause of two damages on my engine, which took a long time and hard work. So i decided to build in a G60 engine from a 1991 Corrado. Default 160 hp and so much more to offer. With some modifications (Chip, smaller chargingwheel) I think it will be a (stock) VR6 Killer :-) After that I´ll report...
09/25/2006 - It allready took another year to build in the new engine. Reason: my girlfriend, my job, my bank-limit. But now it runs. It goes straight forward very well. How satisfying after all that work, time and money spend on it. After all I changed rims and tires into 16" in order to get a better control of the car.
10/06/2006 - Here´re some new pics.
There´s a problem with the Transmission, so I can´t get a quarter mile time. But it accelerates faster then my fathers 96th Passat VR6 :-)
By then, here some technical facts:
Engine: 1,8l G60 (Corrado) with self-made charge air system
Rims: Team Dynamics "Jet" in 7 x 16"
Tires: Fulda Exelero 195 / 45 - R16
Coil Over Suspension Kit: Hicon GT from Weitec
Strut Bar: in polished finish from Wiechers
01/25/2007 - Nothing relevant happend. But for wintertime I changed my ride. The new one has about 300 hp, airride, two 15" TFTs and seats for more then 50 people - a city bus.
04/18/2007 - Some weeks ago I catched a another (used) transmission. Now I´ve to find time to instal it. Maybe this week I´ll get an appointment to set up the ignition after I renewed it. It´s quite expensive to drive at 15-20L gas per 100KM at a price of 1,34 EUR = 1,8 USD per Litre.
02/08/2008 - Today I had a date with the TUV (you could call it a technical inspection association). For all of you that don´t know. In Germany you´ve the duty to let this organisation check your car every two years. And if it´s in to bad conditions (breaks, lights, oil leaks) your are no longer allowed to drife the car until you fixed it. That is dokumentated with this tiny little colored stickers on the licence plate. It tock me the whole day and about 200 Euros (300 USD) for spare parts to get it going again. The main problem was that the parking brake doesen´t work on the right side - sometimes it´s a baffle.
02/20/2008 - I´ve to drive my ride this winter. The dirt is awfull. After I changed the transmission it works a bit better. But the first an reverse gear get in very badly. I renewed the plugs and the ignition wires (splitfire) and I tried to fix the exhaust. But I still not finished. Next the car will go to the paint shop. Some sides get rust again.
06/02/2008 - After three and a half years left my girlfriend some weeks ago and still got no time to spend on my ride. I try to raise money for the paint shop. By time the weather is getting better but dusty. Also latest news from the Gas Station: 1 litre was up to 1,54 Euros (2,39 USD) a few days ago.
11/09/2008 - No more winter for my ride this year. I took the chance to get a new ride for the cold season. It´s a 1988 Audi 80. A bit ugly, white and low. But it´s cheap and the heater works. Because of this purchase (in july) the Golf has to wait a bit longer for it´s renewing. But I´m needing an other car to get to my garage. Watch the picture below.
05/19/2009 - Nothing interesting happend. Was realy to cold in the Garage and I hab no ambitions to do anything in Winter. I just overhauled the Transmission and started to look for rust last week. And I found enough at the back end...
Meanwhile gas was much cheaper, because of the crisis.
Till then - keep rollin´
