New Ride (10/01/07)
As much as I love the Blazer, I need something a little more for the road. I don't want to completely destroy the MT/R's by driving them on the highway, so for now it's parked and I'm driving my recent purchase, a 1991 Camaro RS (V6, auto). Check it out Here (if there aren't pictures, they'll be added later).
I'm not selling the Blazer, so don't ask, and I'm keeping it insured so I can drive it when I'm back home. Again, it is NOT FOR SALE, so don't ask. Heh, thanks. Peace.

Well this is my webpage for the 1992 Blazer I paid $800.00 for. I frequently update this page, but check out my Other Page (that some of you may know me from) and let me know what you think of all my other junk.
And of course, let me know what you think of my ride.
The picture below is a cool-looking flex shot from my backyard. That's what we call "urban off-roading."

*May 31, 2004 - Got the 6" Hella lights installed on the brushguard this weekend...thanks to Adam for helping me (doing almost all the wiring) for it, I installed a green switch on the panel (under the steering wheel) next to the fuse box panel cover. I'll get some good pictures of it (including night pics) up soon...I can't use these things as headlights because they're brighter than my bright lights. And if anyone knows how to wire these to the buzzer for the regular lights (in case I leave them on) could you let me know in the guestbook? Thanks. Updates hopefully coming soon. And if I can get the 40 series muffler I'm looking at for cheap, I'll have that installed soon after I get it and record some sound clips and link them here. Peace.
----------------------------------------
*June 20, 2004 - Just got back from Cape Cod, Massachusetts (and damn, they don't have any trucks there) but I went through PA and saw a bunch of nice trucks, not to mention some cool ones around NY and stuff. While on Nantucket Island, the Nantucket Film Festival just happened to be going on, and so they brought the actual Jeep Wrangler Rubicon from Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life (actual one used in the movie, complete with dents and dings) and left it parked on Main Street for everyone to see. I got a few pictures of it and will put those up ASAP, along with the mud pictures of my truck from last week.
Last week I bought a CB whip antenna and installed it, and put a tennis ball on it! And I got the system yanked from the old Blazer and put in the new one! Well, the bad news is I was too lazy to replace the Xtreme Audio deck and left it in, but I got the amplifier all wired up, by myself. The downside is that the wires wouldn't reach to the tailgate, so instead of mounting the amplifier there, I did the usual on-the-box mount for it. It's stretching the wires pretty good, but they won't move an inch more in any direction. The 6 (or 8?) speaker system sounds great and, in my opinion, better than the previous 4-speaker one. I tried to hook up the CB-esque radio I bought for $20 (its supposed to pick up police channels, which are pre-programmed in there) but right now the radio's not working. I'm either going to take it back to the guy I got it from or try to fix it myself, but I'm going to have it working, one way or another. The next mod is the neons...but I'll have those ready, hopefully along with a 2" lift, fender trimming, and 33's by next summer, but I might just go with 31's and a small .5" to 1" lift for the rear, or spring replacement, since it's a little low since I put the sub box in.
I'm taking the truck to the beach, which isn't First Week at the beach, so I'm leaving early since I suppose it'll be pretty damn boring, but hey, at least I got my truck and I know my way around this time. But as for the rest of summer, I've got football practice throughout, but I hope I can make a trip to Spartanburg at least once in there, to meet some people my friends know, and to meet up with the kindly fellows who let my disoriented self stay in their house on Easy Street at the beach. I might have new pictures up, check it out...peace.
----------------------------------------
*June 21, 2004 - Washed the truck for the first time! It looked clean and I was going to take a picture, but it started raining. And then leaves and dirt got on it...
----------------------------------------
*July 7, 2004 - Got back from the beach last week, and bad news - the 4wd doesn't work. I was turning around in the sand and I got stuck, so I put it in 4wd, only to find out that the back wheels were spinning and I wasn't moving. The switch said it was in 4wd, and some guys in a Civic came to help me, along with a guy in a Wrangler, who pulled me out. Whoever you were, thanks guys. I appreciate it.
I checked it out in the book and found out that problems with the switch were common. Also, the ABS and Brake lights stay on now, so I asked around and found out my brakes need to be bled or I need new brake pads, but I'm pretty sure its the first, since I have to press the pedal to the floor.
And one more thing wrong...now the seatbelt rachet system isn't working, so it won't go loose, it just stays tight. I hope I can get all this fixed and get some more stuff upgraded, but the bumper is too costly now, so I'm going to leave it as is for a while.
----------------------------------------
*July 12, 2004 - Finally got the repairs done on the car - bled the brakes, fixed the cruise, and rewired the lights properly so they work all the time now. All I have left to fix is the switch for the brakes, which is still on. Otherwise, repairs are done, but not the 4wd...yet.
----------------------------------------
*July 18, 2004 - Today I got to work on the Blazer again, took the driver's side dash almost all the way off, found out 5 of my 7 instrument cluster lights were burned out and replaced those, installed the cheapo $40 aftermarket tachometer (since there wasn't one to begin with), semi-fixed the heating and AC (repaired the switch, at least), and semi-fixed the 4wd. I can now shift into 4wd by pressing the switch and hoping it goes into 4hi or 4lo. It's the switch that's broken; I need to get to a junkyard and get a new one. So now I've got an 8000 RPM tach (but I can only rev to 5000, the redline), I know what the problem with the 4wd is, I fixed the huge dent I put in my car by accident (bumping up against it trying to shut the door), and I can perhaps have a working AC/heat system. I'll get pictures up of it all soon. Peace.
----------------------------------------
*October 10, 2004 - El Holio II Exhaust Upgrade
I got the idea from a few friends this weekend to "customize" my exhaust with a 3/4" drill and some metal cutters, so I went home and got to work hacking a hole in my muffler. Though I can't let the truck just run while it's in park or stopped for any period of time, I now have a pretty loud and rumbling exhaust. This'll have to do until I get the 40 Series (which is in my backseat at the moment) installed.
----------------------------------------
*October 23, 2004 - Thanks to SB's great driving, my car now has some "character" to it and I got 10 free frosties from Wendy's as compensation. Sweet.
----------------------------------------
*October 24, 2004 - Today we sold the Suburban to a guy who was going to use it as a hunt truck to drive through the swamp. After I described the technical parts of it to him, he pulled out the $700 for it and gave it to us, and drove off an hour later with it. Though I wish we hadn't sold it (after seeing how badass it was going down the road), I'm just glad I've got my own truck, and someday I'll have an old Suburban or Blazer. Check out the old pictures of it at my old site. Peace.
----------------------------------------
*January 6, 2005 - HAPPY NEW YEAR! Well, it's been good in 2004, but the new year's here...and updates on my truck. I pulled out that "Xtreme Sound" CD player after a button got jammed on it, I ended up buying a Pioneer 3600 CD player...turns out the old remote from the 3400 in the black Blazer works with it, so I just use that one instead of using the new remote. It's got track display (but doesn't play MP3's or WMA's like the 4600 would), but it was on sale. I can't afford XM radio right now, but it's got an XM tuner built in, as well as independent subwoofer controls, which is just what I needed. I also bought a cheap Cobra 6-band radar detector and a power supply from Best Buy. I also need to get my oil changed, but right now (due to more high cell phone bills - advice: NEVER GET VERIZON. IT SUCKS.) I can't pay to get my damn oil changed or wheels aligned, and no chance in hell anyone else will pay for it. Oh, I also got a ton of tools, and a digital camera for Christmas, so be sure to check back here for new pictures - coming soon!
----------------------------------------
*January 11, 2005 - RIP Blazer. I was dropping off Drew when I noticed the trans was slipping in and out of neutral. Well, my dad offered to split the cost 50/50 on putting a rebuilt one in, and my friend Sam's dad can probably do it for around 600...but he'll only pay for a 'certified GM mechanic' to do it (keep in mind this is the same guy that helped me and Sam and David yank out the 350 in his Camaro, make it a 383, and drop it back in...in a weekend.)
So pretty much, my only option is to get a job and pay for the cell phone bill first (my mom's "top priority"), then, after my dad pays the $300 to get his muffler fixed (?!?!?!!?!?), 'maybe' they can pay for my car to get fixed. Damn.
----------------------------------------
*March 9, 2005 - OK so my mom's house flooded a while back, the guy who told me I was getting a job scammed us, and I got my job back at Lizard's Thicket. One of the repair guys (Tim, and many thanks to him) told me I should try changing the trans fluid in the transmission before just getting a new one, since it's somewhat of a scam. So I changed the fluid and the filter over the course of 3 or 4 days (keep in mind, this is the 1st time I've taken the transmission pan off), got it running, and my dad went and drove it around and even took it on the interstate, and said it was working okay. So besides the small things he pointed out (like the ABS light staying on, even though the ABS works and in the black Blazer, it's broken and the light is off; and like the door panel), he said he'd go ahead and re-register it and reinsure it. So there, I get my truck back. WoohoO!
----------------------------------------
*May 10, 2005 - Been a while since I updated this page, but I went ahead and ordered a "chrome intakes" air intake off ebay. There were some all chrome ones that replaced the plastic one that came stock, but I was suprised to see only a cone air filter and a piece of metal attached to it, with a hose clamp around it. Once I read the instructions, I saw that it just replaced the old air intake box, which is only what I really need. I put it in, then had to make a hole in the grommet of the filter to attach the crank case hose, and also drill a few holes in the old plastic intake mount to hold it up, but after all that was done, it was working fine, and the throttle seemed to be more responsive, and hopefully it'll help my gas mileage out a little. Though its not that big of a deal, my truck now has an 'airplane' sound to it whenever I cut the engine off, but it used to be because of the worn-out and torn crank case hose, which I need to replace. I'm pretty happy with it, since it only cost me $40 an ought to help me out for that kind of cost (it was the same as a K&N filter, except it included S&H in that 40 and also came with the necessary parts and instructions to fit it to the car).
In other news, after this week I have two days, then exams, then I'm out, and graduation/beach week is the 28th (and the beach is until the 4th) so I'll hopefully drive it down there and have fun. Peace!
----------------------------------------
*July 11, 2005 - Okay so a lot of stuff has happened between my last update and now. First off, I got the door fixed on the Blazer and the passenger side power window motor replaced, and spent the night before graduation (May 28th) cleaning up the truck, spraying on some "tire shine" and everything. I pretty much had it flawless, vacuumed out and everything, and I drove it up to the lake to decide how/when we were going to the beach. So I had it parked behind my friend's old suburban, and their stepdad, after having a case of beer (this is no small guy), decided he had enough of his wife bickering, so he hopped in and started his Suburban 2500 up. I ran up there to make sure he didn't hit my car, and me and my friend talked to him for a minute. Then on his way out, he started backing up, and all of a sudden turned the wheel to the right and smashed the back driver's side door in. He got out, told me to give him the repair bill, and then got back in and drove off to get a drink.

So there I was, with a freshly-damaged door, which we affectionately labeled "Suburban 2500" and drew a line to the damage, and taped it on the door. The next day, we decided to head to the beach, damaged door or not. After we got back, I began thinking of ways to fix it, and a lot of ideas came up, but none beat my mom's boyfriend's idea. Since they didn't make the decals for the side anymore (or the blue colored door), we took a rubber mallet and a 2x4 and went to work repairing the damage. We got it straightened out enough, and it was once again off to Ken, the repair guy, for a new fuel pump (just because the original one was so old, and I was worried it might go out).

We took it out to him, and in a matter of days (he works full time, 9-5) he had the new fuel pump in, replaced my heat/a.c. switch, and put a new pin in the driver's side door (the top pin, which wasn't replaced, broke when he replaced the bottom one). I got it back, and it turned out that the A/C actually worked, and blew cold. That meant we could actually take it on a road trip during the summer, and not have to worry about riding shirtless or spraying ourselves with Axe after riding down the road for 4 hours, sweating our asses off. Everything was good to go, and me and Adam drove it down to the beach for a second time that month, and this time it ran much better...and we even took it out on the strip to show it off. With a now almost non-existent muffler (thanks to a pair of metal cutters), the beast roared along Myrtle Beach's strip and turned a few heads - mostly at its ugliness.

The day after we got back, someone took the liberty of smashing out my headlights and taking a hammer to my hood. The damage wasn't too bad, and I went ahead and bought a new set of headlights, which it seemed it needed. Right now it seems to be running good, and me and Adam just cleaned our air intake filters (on his mercedes and my blazer). I'm about to add a picture of his mercedes, check it out on page 6.

In other news, the back tires are almost bald, and my dad offered to buy me two new ones for the back (same size and brand, 30" Goodyear MT/R's). Also, the old black Blazer is finally out of comission. When my truck was in the shop, I headed off to the lake down the interstate, when the rear axle started making a funny noise and started clanking. I pulled it over, and once it cooled off, my dad and I came back with his tahoe (picture on page 5 and 6) to try and make it back to our house. We got it on Bluff road, me driving the Tahoe and him in the Blazer, when black smoke poured out of the back. I tried honking, but it was too late - the rear diff locked up and the truck almost pulled a 180 in the middle of the road. We towed it back and now it's oficially mine for parts or whatever else I want to do with it.

Jordon just bought a 91 Wrangler (picture on page 6), and sold his 240sx to pay for it. He got rid of the stock Super Swampers on it for some wider all-terrain Uniroyal Laredo tires. I was curious about the old tires, so he told me he'd give me around $50 for the set, with around 5k on them. So now I plan to try and fix the rear diff in the black Blazer, paint the stock rims black, strip down the unnecessary junk from inside, and slap on the set of swampers so I can have a truck just to ride around in the mud in - that is, IF I can convince my dad to let me do all this, which involves moving it to the lake, where there's plenty of open fields and mudholes.

Well that's it for now, hopefully the Blazer will run good and make it up to Clemson. I'll try to update this a little more often.
----------------------------------------
*August 7, 2005 - ROAD TRIP TO TEXAS: Last Monday I went up to the lake, to go on a road trip to see someone special (my girlfriend, specifically), that I've been wanting to see for quite a while. Well, I wanted to go when her friends came to town, but we couldn't go, cause of Jordon's mom. So Monday we hung out, and Tuesday Andrew was following me back to my house in his mom's minivan, and Willson ran out in front of the car, so I slammed on brakes and Andrew didn't (in time), so he hit me, denting in my right rear panel and making the tailgate not shut all the way. Andrew and Matt managed to repair the van before noon (get new parts, and the wreck happened at 1:45) and bring it home, repaired. After that, I just slept.

Well, Adam had to go to work, and we planned on me and him taking my truck to Texas. So I went to get gas with Willson around 9:30, and we swung by the grocery store to check his schedule, where we ran into Jordon. We told him we were going, so we went to get gas, and talk to Adam. Adam said he'd rather take his Benz on the trip, which was a relief to me (35mpg v. 12-15mpg, tell me which one's better). So we went to Jordon's and told his dad we were going to Spartanburg, then left at 2:10 Wednesday night (early Thursday morning) once Adam got home, for Texas. After a long day of driving, we made it there at 9:30 Thursday night. I finally got to see her, and we played a game of pool, went to the beach, went to a burger place, and walked around in a hotel parking lot for a couple of hours, til her mom came to get her. We loaded the car up and headed back afterwards.

The Benz made it back, with a good bit of trouble, but it kept on chuggin' the whole way there. I headed back here around 12:30 and got back around 1:00 Friday night. All in all, it was a fun trip, some would say not worth it, but I know it was just something we had to do before we died...and most importantly, I got to see my baby :)

Here's some pictures HERE (Click on "Texas Road Trip" album).

That's all for now, I'll update this thing when I feel like it. PEACE!
----------------------------------------
*August 11, 2005 - Guess I felt like updating. I went to start the Blazer yesterday, and it made that all-too-familiar clicking noise, due to the battery connection. I tried tightening/loosening it, but it looked like it was stripped. So we took it to advanced auto parts (after jump-starting it, so I guess the battery was drained some), and the guy down there just turned the post around until they had a matching one in stock (I bought it down there a year ago or so).

So I asked him about the LED light to the amp, and he said that because that was on, the amp was staying on, and just to bridge the connection with a switch at the front. So I did that, and found out my power source to the remote wire was bad. I used an alligator clip and ran a wire across from the power-in to the lights to the switch, grounded it, and tested it out - it worked! I cleaned up the mess, extended the remote wire a little (bad little splicing technique that sucks), and finished up.
That's it for now.
----------------------------------------
*August 24, 2005 - Well, I'm in Clemson now, and the truck's shot. It broke down on the side of I-26 on the way to spartanburg a few weeks ago. $240 wasn't cheap for a towing fee, but now the truck needs a new trans. If I get good grades, then my parents might fix it for me, but I don't know yet.

On another note, HERE is a link to my roommate's page for his '02 F-150. Check it out.
----------------------------------------
*February 12, 2006 - 4 DAYS TIL MY BIRTHDAY! WOO! I don't even know (or care that much) what I'm getting, as the best present I got was my truck back, right before I came back home for Christmas break. Turns out the trans (700R4) in the black Blazer is the same as the trans that went out in my Blazer (4L60, not to be confused with the later and common 4L60E), it was just renamed in 1992. Or so I think. But, yeah, the trans was able to be swapped out, and it only had 35k on it (wouldn't put too much strain on the engine), so we did the swap. I drove it up here, still had the problem where when it's wet it doesn't start without holding the gas down, then when it starts it skips & tries to cut off again, and I think it's something with water getting into the intake but I'm not sure. Oh well, just can't really drive it when it's been raining too much I suppose.
----------------------------------------
*January 24, 2007 - Well, been a while. Okay, so got a new distributor cap (fixed the problem with it messing up when it rains), new spark plug wires, and new spark plugs. Bosch plugs suck, 5 out of 6 were fouled out after 10,000 miles. If you only read one thing, read this: ONLY RUN AC PLUGS IN CHEVY ENGINES. Okay, wanted to make that clear. Thing runs pretty good now, I figured out I got between 17 and 19 mpg on the highway. Sweet. Tailgate won't open, I'm gonna try to get that worked out. Later.
----------------------------------------

Sign the guestbook, rate the truck if you want, do whatever...enjoy!

Well the C.P.I. does have its little quirks. The C.P.I. stands for Central Port Injection and basicly you have one injector with six rubber lines. But normally if it is going out the one big sign will be that it is really hard to start. Due to low fuel preassure. But a bad regulator can do the same thing, and it is about 10% of the price of an injector unit. One of those things are bad on my Blazer. Sometimes it will just crank over and over and over before it fires up. I have had to replace the cap and rotor before but I also replaced the control moduel at that time and I'm still not shure witch part crapped out I just replaced it all but when that happened, it didn't spit and sputter, it just died and that was it. There are alot of things that can make it spit and sputter, that is one of those problems that can take any where for 2$ to 2,000,000$ to fix once you get done chasing the problem. But don't feel bad it's a common thing. You should join S10Extremist.org, they have all sorts of tech articles and they have Q&A out the wazoo. They have tons of info and some of our members our mechanics. What ever symptoms you are having there is positively some one in the group that has had them too. I would deffinatly join up. It's free. My screen name on the site is JAMES LEVIN. Good Luck
