Here are some pics of the first modifyed 5.9l MPI Manifold I worked out. This is the first design we came up with. This particular manifold is installed on my fathers 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited. Since the Grand Cherokee is signifigantly heavier then Dakota R/Ts so we could not afford the torque loss associated with the Mopar M1 intake. We were thinking about what could be done for my father '98 Grand Cherokee 5.9 performance rebuild. It would be very costly to get a ported stock Beer Barrel Intake. The only website we could find is charging $500! So we set out to design our own ported manifold. All port and bridgeport machening work was performed by Mike Gatone. The center divder has been dropped down to be level with the valley of the plenum. Runners were shortened from 12.5 to 10.5 inches on the inside wall. This moves the powerband up slightly, but with only a very minor loss of torque. With the stock 12.5inch runner length, the runners suck from right against the belly pan of the manifold and flow is severly limited beacuse of that. This manifold flows better at every rpm and does not suffer from the lack of power past 3500rpm like the stock manifold. No more falling flat on your face at 3500 rpm! Look for road and track testing of the manifold soon.
