sammo's 1972 MINI Cooper

HI everyone. This is a 1972 British Leyland Mini Clubman. It only has an 1100cc engine but it corners like nothing else! It is currently owned by my dad but I?ve been the one doing most of the work on it- with a little help from dad! I'm going to pay dad for it at the end of the year when I get my license. It?s basically all in original condition- and immaculate condition at that!

Since we bought it in 2002 we have replaced the muffler; reconditioned the head with new, larger valves and valve seals, and ground half a millimetre off while we were at it to increase the compression a little; tinted the windows; put new carpet in with proper bitumen sound insulation; removed rust and welded up some holes in the floor pan; connected an aluminium tube to the tiny air filter to let it breath a little easier; and put in a very nice sound system. No sub woofers as yet!

It is a great car to drive and you don't have to go incredibly fast to have incredible amounts of fun. Another good thing is that it gets about 13km/L in fuel consumption! (Or about 7.5L/100km)

These photos aren?t very up to date but I will put some more on when I get around to it. Hope you like!

nice origional mini, if your gonna do a full ground up restoration do up a round nose to origional specs! it'd look very nice and be worth lots of $$$ though if your tight on the budget clubbys are cheaper to restore! check our mine im doing up myself, i am only 17 turning 18 like yourself! cheers matt

Just came back to have a look to see how the mini is going, love the computer animations, there have been a few burnout minis' built like them and shread rubber big time, I'd love to get a Daewoo Matiz and cram a blown 350 Chev under the nose just for a laugh, purely only as a burnout mini beast, but I recon it'd be a hoot.

Thanks for the comments on my 'Jay' good luck with yr 12, remember those days,,,, sorta, hang in there with the mini and don't cut corners, you'll only regret it later and try not to crash the bugger??????? My first car was a Dato 1100 ute and spent ages and heaps of cash hotting it up, 2 ltr Lancier motor and all,,,, loads of fun till I had a stupid attack and took it for a burn up some back roads near home,,,, (out near Warburton, Victoria)the council had surfaced our favorite slide corner (was loose gravel) and physics took over ending my fun when I reversed it at high speed into a bloody big Murray River Gum, the tailgate doesn't work real good when jammed into the parcel shelf. Least I can tell the story though. Good luck with it all.
