this is my '99 runner, i just got it. I want to make some changes to make it look 'meaner'... I'm open to any suggestions =).. The first thing i wanna do is add fender flares, but don't know what brand is good.

your truck looks a lot like mine when it was stock. If you want fender flares, bushwacker extend a fender is the way to go. I put the performance products ones on and wish I had gone with some bushwackers. If you want to make your truck look mean, buy a grille guard or go with a lift and bigger tires. The bigger you go the sweeter it looks. I'm runnin 5" with 33" tires right now on my runner and I still want to go bigger. Check out my truck and if you have any questions just let me know

Hi Michelle, I think Revtek has more applications for Toyotas than other brands. You can also check out Superlift, they also have kits for 4runners. Your 30" tires shouldn't look bad with a 3" lift. Maybe after a while later, you can put some 32's or 33 tires, but the 30's should look fine..good luck and keep me posted

Hi Michelle, you can go anywhere from 3 to 7 inch lift and run bigger tires. You may have a hard time getting in your truck if you go any higher than 7". If you want to try putting some bigger tires on first, they may rub. An inexpensive way would be a body lift, though it may not look as good as a suspension lift due to the frame being exposed. As far as handling your lifted truck, it just takes a getting used to. I actually like mine better than when it was stock, also depends on which kit you get :o)

Hi again, if the tires are not sticking out at all, installing fender flairs will make the tires look pushed in and not look right. Get a lift first and then decide if whether you need to add flares. The tires on my truck stick out about an inch or inch 1/2, was gonna add flares but decided not to, it looks mean the way it is now..well at least to me it does :o)

congrats on your ride, looks pretty clean. So you want it to look meaner, you can get a lift kit and run bigger tires. As for fender flairs, check out Bushwacker.com, they have different style flairs..good luck and keep me posted on your upgrades..take care
