Welcome to My Mx6 Page. Feel free to browse through and check out the pics of my car aswell as some of my mates rides. Cars are my life. Hopefully you feel the same way.
This is a reasonably current picture of my car. I bought it in 2002 for $7200. It was stock as jocks. When I bought it I installed part of the stereo. All install work was done by me, but the gear was all purchased from the boys at Audiocom, Joondalup. The starting stereo set-up included Pioneer 3550DEH head unit, Pioneer 4" Splits, & good old 3-way 6x9's. This was never going to be enough.. And I don't ever think I will settle with anything I like. After I had the car a while I did the usual P-plater cheap mods. Stickers, Mesh & the rest. As shown in the next picture.
As you can see I did succeed in making the car a little more appealing to the eye. I drove round in this beast for a few months pretty content with my self. I was the only one out of all my mates with an import, or even a turbo... I stepped out of the typical HOLDEN/FORD scene and into the way of life... IMPORTS. Buy the time my birthday came, in July, I decided that I really wanted to upgrade the stereo. So thanks to Frankie & the boys at Audiocom, I became the owner of a 12" Pioneer VCCS Subwoofer.. "sik mate" I "borrowed" a shitty little amp to power the sub as well as a "borrowed" custom box to house it. (cheers to Tommy for the Amp & Trent & Colin for the box) The tiny little amp didn't last too long... but in December 2002, the worst thing possible happened...
Driving on a typical Perth 38 degree day, My water pump decided to shit itself.. Thus blowing my head. Without knowing what sort of damage I had done to the bottom end of the engine, & with also having almost 185000k's on the clock, I decided to aquire a Low Km Jap Import Engine, installed by the guys at JAPWRECK in Beckenham. This set me back a cool $2500. This hurt the budget. With the new engine installed by January.
It was time to source a new amp to replace the shit one.
So, again off to the boys at Audiocom, where I became the owner of a Pioneer 4 channel amp. I was told this would be plenty of power for my splits & sub & future second sub... if I desired... Desired... I needed another one. But with the events that followed, it would be a while before that was gonna happen. Travelling down a quiet road in Heathridge doing 50km, honestly officer, I encountered Women drivers and road rage in an ugly combination. The result, a VS Commodore parked in the middle of the road while she shouted at a couple of teeneagers piss farting around on the side of the road. To cut a long story short the result was expensive.. for me anyway. With $1500 excess to cover her car, plus the $3300 to fix mine, I was in financial trouble.. who else to turn to but my wonderful Mother, who I still owe money to. The day I got my car back I left for a holiday. Who would have thought it would be the more expensive than shopping with my girlfriend. While away in Dunsborough, I had a little gearbox trouble. Well trouble being unable to get out of second gear. Which was good... if I didnt want to exceed 50km with out red lining. So I drove, in second gear from dunsborough to bunbury, (thats along way at 40kmp/h) where a tow was arranged to get my baby home to Perth. Luckily for me, this tow was free. Thanks to my mate Ryan's Dad. It's always who you know. The gearbox took a good 3 months to fix. I had to wait for import parts to come in from Japan aswell as some new parts to arrive at the local Mazda Dealer. During the period without my car, I started having second thoughts about if this was the car for me and should I go back to a Holden or something local. But I stuck it out and its the best decision I have made.
Not long after, my wonderful & supporting girlfriend bought me a second sub & a Custom Audiocom Dual 12" Enclosure. This made my system pump. Approximately 137db. I have since had the car re-sprayed in a custom blue, a set of MOMO 17" rims which were then changed to 17" Speedy wheels, I also bought a Kicker 600.4 Amp to run the subs, MB Quart 6" splits & A New Sony CD/MP3 Player. Next Hopefully will be a suspension package, interior re-trim & a In-car TV/DVD Player.
Until then I hope you enjoyed how my car became the way it is. Hopefully the story will continue, without too many drama's.
Feel free to browse through the rest of my pictures, including some of my friends cars aswell.
