We bought our 1996M in April 2004, replaced a red base model of the same year. Most recent mod was a set of Chapparal wheels, shown here. 
Mica came to Virginia from North Carolina, great paint and an interesting pinstripe job. Photos really don't do it justice. 
Interior is perfect, always garaged and carefully cared for.
After having the car for a few weeks, I installed Koni shocks and lowered the car a bit. I also added Flyin' Miata swaybars and Toyo T-1S tires, and now the car is exactly the way I want it: great response and grip but still rides well for everyday driving. The only mod to the engine so far is a Racing Beat intake, which feels stronger in the midrange. Sounds good, too. 
Virginia has the largest number (per capita) of personalized plates of any state in the country. I've got these two, one on Mica and the other from SimplyRed, now on my garage wall.
