Audi Ur-Quattro Turbo

***CLICK HERE TO BUY MY LIMITED EDITION VW AUDI DRAWINGS IN MY EBAY SHOP!*** The Audi Sport Quattro is just one of the limited edition prints taken from my own hand drawn illustrations. They are available to buy worldwide on ebay.

I have always wanted to own one of the original Audi Quattro's, ever since seeing them appear on the world rally scene in the early 80's.
In 2004 I finally took the plunge, sold my virtually new MG and got hold of my 1986 WR engined Quattro.
It has a turbocharged 2144cc 5 cylinder engine which develops 200bhp and 210lbft torque. Permanent 4 wheel drive ensures very stable handling.
When this car was built it was the technological show piece of the Audi range. It sports features such as a fully digital dash (looks like Knightrider) and a voice synthesizer which announces any faults with the car with a nice robotic female voice.

The next few pictures were taken at the GTI International meeting in May 2004. As you can see, it's in pretty good shape for an 20 year old with 134,000 miles on the clock. It had a full glass out respray in 2002.

The car was part of a small display outside the main information centre. The other cars on display were a VW Golf G60 Limited, the project GTI from Volkswagen Driver magazine and a Bora from the VW cup racing series.

Surprisingly the Quattro seemed to cause more interest than any of the other cars.

This car was ordered with the optional extra's of a sunroof and full grey leather interior. Price new in 1986 was close to £25,000. This was expensive, but these cars were hand built in a different factory to the rest of the Audi range.

The car is virtually standard. It even still has the original Blaupunkt London stereo. The only non-original part is the single silencer Scorpion stainless steel exhaust system and it's a bit loud.

Black rear lights were a standard feature.

Sunshine!

Who's that ugly mug....oh yeah, it's me.

Just washed.

Full original leather interior in pretty good shape considering it's seen 10 owners and 134,000 miles.

It's not easy getting my 18 month old daughter into the back!

Digital dash is my least favourite part of the car, but at least it all works properly.

The oily bits. 2144cc, 5 cylinder turbocharged motor puts out 200bhp and 210lbft torque.

And here's the car that got it all started, the Audi Quattro rally car. The guys in the suits are the Finnish driver Hannu Mikkola (left) and his co driver Arne Hertz.

Don't try this at home (because you will break it).

The next page shows the Audi's I have owned in the past.
