SLP LINE LOCK

propellerhead's 2004 Ford Mustang

I added the SLP Brake-Control Package M-25000, otherwise known as a line lock. It is a one-way valve that goes between the brake master cylinder and the front brakes to lock only the front brakes to assist with burn outs. Here's how it works - You step on the brake pedal and brake pressure is applied to all four wheels. Flip the switch and the solenoid closes to prevent the brake pressure from releasing the front brakes. Let go of the brake pedal and the rear brakes release but the front brakes don't. Step on the gas pedal and spin the rear tires as long as you want. That easy. No need to ride the brakes and the gas pedal at the same time. No more unnecessary wear to the rear brakes.

If you look at the kit above, it comes with a toggle switch. I was a little worried about accidental activation of the switch. I asked SLP how the solenoid works. I was told that it essentially pinches the brake lines so that no brake fluid can get through. This means it won't release the brakes nor will it apply them. Yikes! That also means that if the switch was accidentally hit while I'm going 75 mph, I won't have any front brakes. My car is a daily driven car and I sometimes have passengers. My friends and family sometimes drive my car. I could not risk it.

One option was to use a momentary switch in place of the toggle switch.

[[[ to be continued ]]]

The SLP came complete with pre-bent solid brake lines for 99-04 Mustangs. Other kits require you to fabricate your own brake lines.

Cost: $115 for the kit plus another $20 for the extra stuff

Nice tips. I like the 3.5" it fills that hole much better. Rolled edge is the only way to go. I am changing mine to 3.5" rolled edge and I ran across your page =)

Nice Stang! www.MustangSequencers.com: You should think about getting sequential tail lights.

Nice ride. Very informative write ups as well, you should write for a mag or website. Would love to hear a "how to" on launching an auto tranny from your perspective..

not a bad dyno for the minimal amount of mods. and i wouldent get longtubes until u are almost done modding your car or already have alot of mods, b/c they cost alot and the end return on HP isnt that much. underdrive pulleys are very effective and maybe run u 150 bucks. they can raise ur HP anywhere from 8-14hp, which is what the longtubes MIGHT do but at a waay higher price. also, if ur looking to get a really really loud cat-back go with SLP loudmoth I..it will wake the dead...later
