This 71 is in violet fc7 in color. Effort was made to mostly clone a '71 340 Duster for exterior scheme. It uses a 540 all aluminum "400 replica" Indy Maxx block and 440-1 ICH Heads fully ported with 2.25/1.81 valves. Camshaft is a flat tappet (non-roller) Comp Cams .650" lift with 324 degrees duration using 1.5 Indy rockers. Crank is a Bryant 4.25" stroke, rods are Childs & Albert 440 and pistons are J&E flat tops setup for 14.93:1 compression. A single 1050 Holley Dominator Carb sets on an Indy Cylinder Head Intake. Headers are TTI 2" step to 2.125" primary into 3.5" collectors. The car is back halved with Raceline 4-link frame rails and uses a RMS Mustang II rack n pinion K-member, HAL QA1 Stocker Star front coil overs and Strange coil overs rear, Sierra drag disk brakes rear and Wilwood front disks, and Weld Alumina Star 2.0 wheels.

Best Quarter et to date is 9.13 @ 146.6 mph with a 5.78 eighth mile time.   The best eighth mile time is 5.72.  RPM datalogger is a valuable tuning tool for both converter selection and suspension.

Transmission is a Powerglide with Ultra bell and Neal Chance Billet bolt together 9.5" converter, a Reactor aluminum flexplate and a Coan pro transbrake valvebody. Trans uses a 6 disk hi drum setup and 5 clutch reverse pack. Planet gear is a Transmission Specialties 1.80 straight cut in a Coan carrier. Driveshaft is from Patterson Driveshafts in Indy.

The car used to be a '73 and was charcoal in color. The car was painted this winter and I converted it to a '71 because I always prefered that year. Also made the doors and doghouse removable. I have owned the car since 1985 and it has been a bracket car the whole time. If you want to see the car when it was Charcoal you can see it at Bigblockdart.com/casner/casner.html.

The car is all steel except hood and bumpers and lexan windows. Inside Autometer gauges are used with Turbo Action shifter and ACD RPM activated CO2 shift mechanism. Delay electronics are from Biondo (Mega 85) and Ignition is a MSD 7AL2.
