turbokirklin's 1991 Saab 9000 Been a little while since the last update. I've since done a lot of work on the old saab. It's gotten a couple of new gauges, new fog lights and a bunch of new parts on/in the engine.
What's up with my new water pump? It seems like it doesn't flow as much water as the old one. It seems to get lots warmer at idle and even on the freeway when the outside temp is above 70. I need to remedy this. I wired a switch that clicks on the coolong fan to high speed when I need to cool 'er down.

Did a little rallying with my friends this last weekend. Props to Aaron for snagging this sweet pic.

turbokirklin's 1991 Saab 9000 Another Contour loses street cred.

Current mods:
Free flow airbox
High pressure BPV(Viggen)
BOSCH Platinum+4's (waste of money)
Autometer boost gauge
Autometer Air/Fuel ratio monitor
Clear corner lenses
PIAA Platinum series halogens
JVC MP3 Deck
Bulldog remote starter
tinted rear windows

Future mods:
PIPES
High pressure fuel regulator
higher flow injectors?
ECU mod?

Engine work:
As everyone knows, the 2.3L in 9000s have had a fair number of issues with the timing chain stretching and the balance shaft crank sprocket being too soft. Yep, I replaced 'em.
Some recent work includes the following-

Timing chain
Balance shaft chain
balance shaft crank sprocket
balance shaft chain tensioner
water pump
serpentine belt tensioner
belt tensioner upper bracket
all new motor and trans mounts
harmonic balancer

It costs a bunch of money to get these parts, but I'm glad I did it considering the shape of the parts removed. (btw the engine had 146,000 on it at the time of replacement).

I strongly reccomend doing this work if you love your saab and want it to keep running. If you don't spend the money on it now, it will cost you even more later.

Hey, have you ever heard of a fuel pump booster? I saw one on a turbo Audi, check it out. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/859458/10
