Freddie_mays's 1984 Vauxhall Astra

I bought this car early 2004. It is a Mk1 Astra GTE, with a 1.8 8v 4 pot engine. It was circuit raced by a chap called Andrew Mitchell in the Uk road saloon championship in 2002, (which is now the Lemans championship). Modifications include a Peter Maiden Head, 16V brakes, over a grands worth of adjustable LEDA suspension, Straight through exhaust, roll cage (safety devices), plumbed in fire extinguisher (safety devices), bucket seats (Mears), shift light indicator, 4 point harness (safety devices), quickshift, quick rack steering, Ignition cutoff access on the bonnet, along with fire extinguisher... Car is fully stripped.... Just received Compomotive MO's in white to fit :-)

Not many of these around, you should send it into Total Vauxhall magazine and see if they will feature it, as it does have some motorsport history, and only a handfull of MkI Astas still on the roads. Still would love to get my hands on one & do a C20LET engine conversion.

Nice to see that the old MK1 is still being 'used'. Looks like good fun. Really should start building my own track car sometime soon.
