1972 Tuneport powered Vega
When I got this car in 1996, it was powered by the original 4 cylinder and 2 speed Power glide. It had 37,000 miles. The original drive train was quickly removed and replaced by a 1992 Z-28 Tuneport Injected V8. It took a week end to install the Tuneport and about 8 months to get all the plumbing and wiring sorted out. All factory wiring was used (heavily modified) for the EFI system, the Camaro cruise control was also installed. The transmission is a B/W T5 5 speed, with an S-10 hydraulic clutch system. An S-10 3.42 posi Diff was used with Vega brackets welded on. Rear control arms are custom made adjustable tubular units. Front spindles have been upgraded to 5 lug units from an S-10. Power brake master cylinder and booster are from a Honda Prelude. Wheels are from a '70's Z-28 with Vega center caps. They were chosen because they are very similar in look to the stock rims (I like the OEM look)
It's a blast to drive and gets over 30 MPG, if I can keep my foot out of it :)
