I got this car for next to nothing, $100. I plan to sink at least $5000 into it before I'm done, more likely closer to $7000.
Edit - It looks like the engine itself will total $4000. Yikes!
The SX4 was originaly equipped with an Iron Duke 4 cylinder engine made by GM, and a SR4 4-Speed transmission. I've pulled both, as well as stripping the entire car.
I plan to add a 5-Speed tranny (already have it) and a fuel injected 4.0L Jeep engine, bored and stroked to 4.7L (don't have yet). I have factory 5 spoke aluminum alloy wheels for all around and a sunroof to be added later.
6/6/04 - Just got a '88 4.0L, came with computer, wiring harness, header, AC compressor, PS pump, alternator, and 5-speed Jeep tranny with bellhousing. They have 76K miles, and were running when pulled. Cost me $400 for all.
I'll keep the two tone paint, but change the tan and brown to yellow and black, respectively. The original tan interior will be updated and replaced with black.
I'll post more pics as soon as I can. Also pics of the spoiler, wheels, sunroof and other stuff I'm using later.
I'm looking for a driver door with glass if you're in my area and have one.
