Alright, since I get Cabby-crazy every spring.....here's the most recent jobs/mods done to The Spoiled one:
Last April intalled the 270* sport cam and the adj. cam gear. To be frank, I didn't feel a lot of change in the engine output, I was a bit disappointed with the CAM. It really was a INCOMPLETE mod until the exhaust/intake got some changes and let the engine breath freely. Since I'm not looking for a swap (I just want to get the most out of this little 8 valve) done some talking with fellow enthusiasts, and ended up with the following needs:
The exhaust system in these cars is super restrictive, it's conformed by an ultra restrictive 4-1 exhaust manifold (the infamous "toilet bowl"), a super restrictive catalytic converter, a restrictive muffler, and a "anti-flow" 1 3/4" piping. It wouldn't go pass 5000 rpms in ANY gear, it was so frustrating.
THE NEW EXHAUST:
Threw in a race (non-cat) version, 4-2-1 AUTOTECH header, along with a 2.25" EUROSPORT CAT-back system. Sounds excellent to my taste, not too loud and deep, but it will scream when you step on it!
THE INTAKE MOD:
The intake systems in pre-90 cabbies are not the best to modify, but a little upgrade was on place putting in a Mk2 throttle body; which is bigger and allow more and better flow, and porting the intake manifold to open and pair it with the new big bore, though giving it more throttle response.
Also took off all the airbox restrictive pipes and dropped a k&N.
"IMPRESSIVE" a whole new car was born, power now is around 130 hp at the crank, excellent throttle response and sounds awesome!
LOVES to rev! I'm hitting 7000 rpms with no problems at all, and yet feels strong at the high end. I like the -3 degree setting of the sprocket, gives you good high end without losing a lot of torque in the low end. Good thing about the adjustable sprocket is your not tight to the same setup! feel free to play around to reach your personal driving style!

WANNA SEE IT IN ACTION? HERE'S SOME VIDEOS FER YA!
Also, as a "result of the result", i had a fast car but.....stock suspension. Something had to happen with that.
