Front Diff Carnage! From back in the day, 2002-ish
So about 3 years ago I was coming down Stevens Pass when I hit the brakes and all 4 of my tires locked up...to make a long story shorter, my 4wd then stopped working. We weren't totally sure why, but we did know it had something to do with the front diff because later on the whole thing completly siezed up. Well finally last week, I got it all fixed. Well what we figured happened is that the casing got cracked let water and and the oil out, which in time let it get really really hot when in use, and then melted the metal and it seized. I asked them when they replaced the front to keep the old one so I could see what it looked like in there, man was it bad.(The arrows point to the cracks, and notice the lack of a pinion...)
