This is my 94 Lincoln Mark VIII, Portifino Blue, with Navy blue leather interior. The car has every Option on it except for the Power Moon roof.
My Parents bought this car with 30,000 miles on it, and after a few years, and alot of drama, it became mine. My dad drove it to work one morning during the winter, and on his way home he got out on the highway. Went to pass someone before the car was warmed up, and kicked er down to get around someone. The seal around the oil filter blew and at 6,000 RPM, drained the crankcase. 14 of the cam bearings were wiped, and snapped both timing chains. I forget how many valves were bent, but there were a few. which brings us to the present day.
Since I got a VERY good looking car for free, I decided I would build it to MY tastes. That would be a fully forged blower mill, with a manual behind it. BUT first things are first.
I needed to get the hard part of wiring, and fabrication issues taken care of.
I selected a T-45 for the first stage of the swap, due to its design, and the availability of it. To make it fit I had to perform the shifter relocation detailed at www.tccoa.com I would like to thank the people over there for the info, and the help I recieved.
This is how the project turned out. Keep in mind that we created the shifter box out of 3/16ths aluminum sheet, and not from billet like the thunderbird guys do. The T-56 I put in here will be out of Billet. (AND straight) :o)
You can see how we fabbed up the shifter linkage. Its the stock shifter block, with a stainless outboard driveshaft TIG'd to a bored out 3/4 inch nut. It may not look good, but it was done for free, and works great.
