You are looking at DE FUNK a stock 1981 Delorean DMC-12. This vehicle was purchased in Feb 2003 from New York. It now resides in Washington State.

There were approximately 8300 of these produced between 1981 and 1983.
There are now about 6000 of them still out there.

When I bought this car, it was completely 100% original including the tires. It had 24,300 miles on it. My goal is to gradually make the car completely as it was when it was new.
Everything except the sound system. The reason for this is because even the more expensive high quality auto sound systems of the late seventies and early eighties simply did not sound good. Soo.. I'll save the stock stereo as a keepsake to go along with the car.

This car is not high powered as you can see by the specs. The Turbo version raises the horsepower to about 190.
My engine is stock. Still, it's a very nice ride.

The stock engine is a SOHC V-6 174 cu in (2849 cc) aluminum block and heads, Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection with Electronic Control Unit.

Everybody wonders where this engine came from. It is called a PRV-6.
This stands for Peugot, Renault, Volvo.
The engines were Volvo designs. The ones used in the Delorean were manufactured at the Renault plant. There are many versions of similar engines used in European cars. This particular engine was originally designed to run without electronic fuel injection. It has air screws to control the mixture. These screws are not used on the Delorean version.

Top Speed: About 130 MPH.
Handling: Very nice with new tires: Firestone Indy 500s
The original tires were Goodyear NCT
Front:195/60 HR14
Rear: 235/60 HR15
Mine are now in my garage

Why is this car cool?
Everybody wants to talk to you about your car and even strangers call their friends while they're looking at it to tell them about it.

You can't go to a gas station without somebody talking to you about it.

People wave at you all the time. Even people you don't know.

It was the car in BACK TO THE FUTURE.

Why is that cool?
I don't know.. It's just kind of fun!

I recently put in a new sound system:

CD/MP3: Sony CDX-M8800
Rear Speaker: Pioneer TSA4103 4"x10"
Front Speaker: Rockford Fosgate FRC4203 3.5". These speakers were chosen because they fit into the stock speaker compartments in the Delorean.

SubWoofer: Bazooka El6A-HP This is a great self powered 100 watt sub-woofer that fits nicely in the Delorean.

This car is very beautiful and fun to drive. I hope you enjoy the pictures. I think you should get one too!

De Car in my front yard!

Interesting Fact: In Back to the Future the car had to go 88 MPH but the speedometer only goes to 85
