The Motor Mount remove & replace.
I used sun42's write up as a basis for my morning under the hood and under the car.
This is his write up.
The job wasn't too bad. Glad I did have an air gun though.
I removed the air box, heat shield and my DIY air intake to get to the 14mm bolts on the driver's side. The top, rear most bolt was only accessable with an open ended wrench.
The mount would not come out in 1 piece. This is where I rotated the mount and got out the air gun with the 14mm socket and whippppped that nut right off.
This is the "exploded" version of what the 3 pieces look like. Both rubber mounts are the same. They both have the same part number.
These are my old mounts surrounding a new one in the center. I used the orange cord caddy as a straight edge to show how compressed the mounts were after 80k miles and 14 years.
This is the one that has a crack all the way around the top of it. (sorry, it's not focused too well) Using the 3 foot method of checking the mounts did not show that this problem existed. It also did not show how compressed the mounts were.
This is the passenger side showing where the holes are. This side was easy and the whole unit came out in 1 piece.
NOTE:::: This side has 3 different sized bolts. Make a note which one comes from which hole. Hope I got mine back in the right places.....
This is the bracket that will come off when you undo the top bolt on the passenger side. The other end goes to the starter.
This is the nut that I took my air gun too. 'Yahaa don't need no stinken leverage or vices with the air gun :)))
There is no right or left, but there is a top and bottom. The metal fitting / cup on the right is turned around for the picture. Note that the rubber tabs go in the holes and the holes at the bottom of the of the cup go at the bottom as well. They are, I assume, drain holes. The finished product will have the cup turned around and the rubber mount will be inside the cup.
