Suspension mods...
The suspension from the Jetta is really good for driving safely at high speeds, still it's not tuned as a sports car from the factory and it can be improved.
This is a pic from my Sparco strut bar, an excellent add on. It helps quite a bit on tight cornering.
I painted the front brakes.
And the rear ones in red so they look more sport.
Well, what can I say, I got the sport springs after all, they are made by Vogtland in Germany and they lower the car 1.5" front and rear. Handling was quite improved by this and the car feels much firm.
This is a pic of the front mount.
This is a pic of the rear mount.
I wanted to add this BBS wheels to the car, so far 17" on the front and 18" on the back with 225/45 rubber.
Finally mounted, at the end I got 17's on both front and rear with 245/45/17 Falken rubber. Stock height.
Now lowered with the sport springs. See the difference?.
The rubber is Falken F451 245/45/17, 180mph rated and AA traction. Those things are wide!
This is a lower brace from an Audi S3, it improves handling by making the chassis stiffer.
I installed an Autotech rear antisway bar.
This is how the car was.
and with the bar already installed. This imprived handling considerably, it is an excellent add on.
I got some Brembo cross drilled rotors.
This is a front one.
Now with the wheels on, looks cool, doesn't it?.
This is a rear one.
This is the rear one with the wheels on.
I got som OEM VW center caps and put them over the lenso logo, it looks much better now, like OEM Motorsport wheels.
My latest suspension mod., Koni adjustable shocks. I painted them red so they would suit the car better.
This is the Audi TT shifter, makes shift changes shorter for a fraction of the price of an aftermarket shifter.
I changed the stock soft front end control arm bushings for solid polyurethane ones from Energy Suspension. I just had to adjust the shocks to a slightly softer setting to ride comfortably, because they make the suspension stiffer, the stering response increases noticeably.
I got a pair of H&R wheel spacers to improve looks and stability.
This is how it looked before.
This is where they install.
This is how it looks with the spacers, right on the edge where it should be, hehehe. The wheelbase width increases and stability improves alittle bit. The only thing is that for about 1/4 of an inch the darn tires hit the tire well when the car goes down much on the rear like when you are loaded and the road is not even, etc. I hate that, so I'll remove the spacers and will try them again when I replace the tires, I think next times I'll get 225's or 235's instead of 245's anyway, so they may just stop hitting the inner well after this.
I got the fron brakes from a 1.8T jetta. To make the swap I had to change not just the rotors but also the calipers, sprindles and a couple of things. But the rotor area is considerably larger on this ones, check it out.
Take a look to the brake pad size difference.
This is how they look mounted.
The next brake mod is to install 280mm rear rotors as well as EBC yellow brake pads. I order them already.
I got a new set of wheels, the reason was to mount my slick race tires in there, they are OEM, also 17 inch.
I mounted my street tires on them meanwhile because I want to paint the CH's, I still don't know if they will look good in black, darg gray or silver like they originally came.
Front braked were upgraded once again, I replaced the 288mm rotors by the 312mm ones found on the GLI and TT roadster. They look nice and the brake feels considerably better:

Here is how they look with the wheels on:

The rear brakes were upgraded as well, I replaced the whimpy 239mm solid rotors by the 256x22mm vented rotors fround on the GLI and TT roadster:

The calipers had to be replaced also, the ones in the left is one of the new ones, and the other is the OEM:

Got these 280mm rear solid rotors from eurospec, I don't know if they would be better than the 256x22mm ones, what do you think?, here are shown besides the 239mm solid OEM rotors:

Got these autotech brake lines, I have not installed them yet:

I have this set of EBC yellow stuff brake pads, for race and street use, when my actual ATE pads wear out:

I finally decided to install the eurospec 280mm rear rotos, check how they look vs. the 256mm ones:

This is how they look mounted:

We also mounted the steel brake lines, I was doubtful that this would help at all but the car brake pedal became much more sensitive when depressing it.

got my tires filled with nitrogen yesterday... they look funny when deflated.
