Engine Mod Websites,

Ok, here's the new's plain and simple. With a 2.8/3.1 the MAIN drag on these motors is FLOW. It's almost impossible to get much air in or out of this top end due to poor design. HOWEVER, there is a solution. The 3X00 top end swap. Basically you keep your 2.8/3.1 bottom end, and use 3400 series heads, 3400 bottom end w/ fuel rail, 3400 plenum and a bigger throttle body. This has turned out to be quite effective, and flow is ALOT higher than that of a stock 3800 through Flow Charts as well as other test. I'm going to attempt to do this top end swap this summer and see what it does. If you want any more details on this 3X00 swap email Ben @ the 60degreev6.com store. He is where I first learned of this news. There are only 16 adjustments and modifications you need to do to succesfully complete this task, and it seems well worth it.

This guy has nice Memcal interface chips. He promises a HP gain of at least 5 fwhp and can REMOVE your gov. With a lifetime of modifications to it. He also has Gen 2, Stage 1 heads. NICE, they are 190.8cfm intake at .5" lift duration. and 164.0cfm out at .5" lift duration. These are some NASTY NICE heads. You can have LS1 valve spring/retainers on them or LS2/LS6 valve spring/retainers on them. Talk to Ben from there website with any comments. He KNOWS what he's talkin about.

www.mantapart.com
Sells from Internal 3.1L parts from Cams and Forged Pistons all the way to chassis parts such as 30mm front sway bars and 26mm rear sway bars, as well as strut tower braces. Before you buy from these guy's I've heard alot of BAD NEWS about them, and that they have a Rap Sheet w/ the BBB. CAUTION dealing with these guys.

www.ebaymotors.com (look for user "tbichips" he will hook you up for a good price) or look him up on www.tbichips.com.
This is a guy who does TOP NOTCH PROM chips for the 3.1L or 2.8L v6 chevy motor 10%-15% HP increase over what you currently have. And 1-2 mpg better gas milage. OOORRR you can go to your local AutoZone and purchace a Hyptertech chip for 146.99 either the Street Runner or the Thermo Master, if you choose the Thermo Master for another 14.99 you can purchase either the Hyptertech 180 or 160 degree thermostat. To be honost, I can't notice a difference with the Hypertech chip and Thermostat. I might be selling it soon and buying one from the 60degreev6 store.

www.engine-parts.com Makes ALOT of 2.8-3.1 Performance internal parts from different cams to different style performance heads. Very affordable parts w/good results.

http://www.decheaders.com/products.html Makes headers for you 2.8-3.1 Chevy motor build up. However they specialize in derby car's so you might have to specify you want them emissions legal and to go under the hood, NOT THROUGH!!!

www.compcams.com
Has a couple cams to select from for the 2.8 and 3.1 motors. They help quite a bit.

www.cranecams.com
As well they have a few cams. They also have a cam for some one looking to make a STRIP ONLY Corsica. As well as a few more mal adjusted cams.

Few words of advice, for rookies out there. Boring a motor out isn't going to help all that mutch. Not on a motor like these. ARI has 3 boring options .020" which is usually what a rebuilt motor has done, .040" over and .060" over. This isn't all that much, I guess if you do alot of top end mods, then you might be able to use this to your advantage, or even forced induction. If I see dyno sheets that prove me wrong, then I'll take this statement off here. This only concerns the 2.8 & 3.1 60* v6's.

My Mod's

Engine

1)*MSD Dis-4 (150-300, Own but not installed)
2)*Getting rid of the Accel's and getting MSD coils. I was told that Accel is a lil bit shotty.
3)*9mm Holly Lazer Shot Spiral Core wire's (40-50, Moroso makes a set that work's just fine for these cars)
4)*5 point Grounding Wire Kit (20-40, Any Universal Kit will do)
5)*Aftermarket Air Intake (AutoZone, or other places sell a 40 dollar kit, easy to do on your own, cut to your liking)
6)*K&N 1000cfm 9" cone filter (eBay for 40 dollars).
7) 2 1/2 exhaust (with Catco Cat) (*CatCo Cat about 45, 300 for exhaust piping and labor)
8) Headers (675, plus shipping) The guy I got mine from doesn't make them any more. Not sure where to get any now.
9)*TBI Chip (74 after shipping on ebay look up TbiChip) I paid 146.99 for the Hypertech and 14.99 for 160* thermostat. BETTER yet, a guy named Ben can program you one better than you can order a pre made chip, look him up @ the 60degreev6.com store
10) Port And Polish ARI has new Heads, w/Pocket port and polishing for around 900, you do the labor of installing, MAKE SURE TO TORQUE TO CORRECT SPEC'S!!! If your wanting to get a little more serious, check out the 60degreev6 store they have a NASTY NICE set of heads, with proven FlowChart sheets.
11) Comp Cam w/260 Grind. Mild lope at idle, great mid and upper horsepower (www.compcam.com)
12)*Transmission Rebuild w/stage 1 shift corection kit (950, 800 Without shift kit, but i got the kit, and got it installed at local speed shop "Transmission's To Go")
13)56mm Big Bore Throttle Body (300 at Mantapart.com)
14)*NGK Irridium IX Spark Plugs (about 7 buck's a whack at local parts store) Carefull how you gap them.
15) Well if you dont like doing any of the motor work, you can order a racing short block from either MantaPart.com (I havn't heard good things from them or from the BBB about them) or from ARI whom has 2.8/3.1 stroker motors with either a .020, .040, .060 bore, and performance heads.

Chassis

1)*KYB adjustable Shocks/Shock Mounts/Struts/Strut Mounts (Cheapest through Advance Auto Parts)
2)*Sprint Lowering Springs (1.7" front, 1.6" rear, 163 from eBay)
3)*Sprint Camber Correction Kit (45 from eBay)
4) Front Sway Bar (30mm) (not doing yet) (175 Mantapart.com)
5) Rear Sway Bar (24mm) (not doing yet) (150 Mantapart.com)
6)*Strut Tower Brace (45 from eBay)
7)*New Polymer Bushings by Mooge/Federal Mogule (15 a piece)

(Spent on Suspension so far not counting labor cost 980)

Everything EXCEPT front and rear sway bars are done. Car sits low. I will take some pictures and include a picture of my old worn out suspension parts and post them.

* <-- Item's I either have, or have installed

Well, I have the suspension done completely.....Except for the front and rear sway bars, I'm going to hold out and see if I really need them or not.....I have 3 mods left to in interior wich are Racing Seats, 4pt Seating Harness, and Role cage.....All the suspension is done and up to date.....Once all my internal mods are done it'll be time to move onto the motor.....

These are two older pictures. This will soon go, not only the pictures but from the heads up on the motor will be gone soon. Parts are being ordered and as they come in will sit until they are ready to be installed. I'm installing a 3X00 top end swap. 3400 series heads with extensive valve train job and porting with 5 angle valve job. Comp Cam with 260 grind, ported lower and upper 3400 intakes with 3400 fuel rail. And modified manifolds. I should gain 50+ hp & tq at the wheels. I will have it all dyno'd once complete.

Car looks awesome lowered and also rides and handles even better. Looks like i need to finish up my suspension so we can do some back road racing. Also dont worry about the white grand prix cuz u know it will never be fast, just stock and slow.
