I bought this car in june of 2003, after i read about it in a january issue of SCC. I was currently driving a 2001 integra GSR which was lightly modded. I test drove the car for the first time in May of 2003 and fell in love with it, allthough i still owed money on the acura i went ahead and bought the mazda. I had to go to 5 dealers to find one in Spicyorange Mica. Sadly i paid sticker price for this car but it was well worth it!
My first modification of choice was to upgrade the allready adequite (to Most) stock Kenwood audio system. It consisted of a kenwood cd/mp3 headunit, kenwood speakers and a 8 inch sub in the trunk. I first only opted for a MTX four channel. I installed that but wanted more. So i then went out and bought a MTX thunder 502 2 channel amp, 2 AudioBahn 12 inch 1206Q subwoofers and a Monster power block along with Monster XP wiring and a 4 gauge wiring kit. Heres a stock pic of the source unit i went with.
Its the Sony Mex-5di. It was originally 999.99 dollars but i got it open box for around 650! Works fine.
