A Long Story Short
This is a father/son project turned son bought the house Dad moved to the shore left the car and drives it when he visits but son still pours money into it! If you can make sense out of that mess, check it out. The car was originally Gold with Banana Cream interior and bought as a basket case off a horse farm in 1984 ( I was 12).From 84 to 88 or 89 it received a fresh motor (lasted about 350 mi.- TOO TIGHT!), new brakes, tires, bodywork and paint. Then it sat.
Fast forward to 2000. After a long falling out with my father, I attended my first Cruisin' meet at the beach. I was hooked! The 79 T/A I had at the time was too tired to do anything with so I started leaning on Dad to finish the Olds. Many months of nights and weekends commenced. We put the chrome back on, all new weatherstripping, I installed a kickass stereo, and put in a new interior. The motor let go 2 weeks before cruisin' 01. After much thrashing, a new one was assembled and installed. It was ready for the beach!
Since then I've blown up the clutch (new Centerforce dual friction), I've blown up first gear (new Autogear M22 trans), replaced the qjet with a 750 Speed Demon, took off the repro tailpipes (it used to sound like a VW Bug on steroids), put a Moser 9" rear in with a Detroit TrueTrac diff., and made the last 6 consecutive trips to the beach.
Shortblock fresh from JB Auto Machine
It's almost............IN THERE!
.030 over '68 400 block, Comp Cams xh274, Harland sharps, E-brock heads, Performer intake, MSD 6AL, topped off w/ a good ol' Q-jet

Interior shot- Autometer gauges reside where the factory speaker grille was (it was broken). The idiot lights were replaced with an Autometer tach as well. Now I need the speedo. The radio was replaced with a Clarion (the filler piece to the right was gotten from a Metra kit for a 95 Chev P/U and matches well).

Cruisin again....

That's my buddy George behind me in a SBC powered '30 Model A. That was a fun little car. Now he's got a tubbed '55.
Brake job gone out of hand......

I redid the fronts with new discs, and replaced all the lines with stainless. It was also time get rid of that nasty iron M/C. I installed a new Wilwood to match the one for the Howe hydraulic throwout bearing. Here's the old setup..
I'd say it looks much better!
Here are some pics of the trans after it received the new gears. That's an Autogear Supercase M22, baby! It should be bulletproof, but Olds torque can be a mf'er, too! Just ask the first trans (see the CARNAGE! section page 2).
