Engine Paint...
Most engine parts like my valve cover and heat shield are easily removed and painted. To paint my intake manifold this is what I did: First the manifold is cleaned and taped. TB cable and brackets are removed. Drop cloths cover anything I don't want paint on. First misting of paint. After a few coats of paint. The tape is removed from the manifold decal. I used a sharpie marker (paint leaves brush strokes) to fill in all the nicks and chips in the decal. I actually covered the entire black area of the decal with a layer of "sharpie black". Isopropal alcohol is used to remove any mistakes. A clear coat for cover. 2nd clear coat. Tape and dropcloth removed. brackets painted, clearcoated, and reinstalled. With the deep shine the final product looks great!

I also have an 89 Probe, which I have had about 5yrs. I thought that I was imagining that those empty spaces could be cupholders! Please email me and tell me how you did it!!
