~INTERIOR DESIGN~
Here you can see some of the fun interior stuff I've done to my car since I've bought it.
This first picture is not a picture of my interior -I guess I didn't take one :( . It is a picture of a stock '89 PGT interior exactly as mine look when I got it, though. See how '80s and burgundy it is? I didn't like that at all, here's what I've done so far to fix that.
~NEOPRENE SEATCOVERS~ Being a 14year old car it was understandable that the stock seats were in terrible condition. Luckily, I found this set of real neoprene seat covers and they fit great. I did use the steering wheel cover that came with it until I replaced the stock one. Of course, racing seats are on the wishlist! ~DYED DOOR~ Above you can see the before/after pics. of my doors. I didn't think that burgundy on burgundy was a very tasteful color scheme. I painted it with Plasticote vinyl dye and recoverd the panel with upholstry fabric that has a carbon-fiber type weave to it(detail right). You can see the breakdown of how it's done here:Modified Interior
~STEERING WHEEL~ I also replaced the big ugly steering wheel with this D-shaped unit from Pilot. It has a great racing look and still allows me to see my white-faced 'Halo' gauges. Also notice that I have boost and A/F guages on the A pillar. This is the trip computer's 'keyboard', where I can see the exterior temp, gas mileage and such. The wite pad is the color/brightness control for the 'Halo' gauges which also glows.~CUPHOLDERS~ A nice addition is this cupholder/change dispenser unit. It replaces the cubbyhole under the head unit and looks like it came stock. It came off of a Ford sedan (maybe a Taurus?).~POWER SUPPLY~ With the new cupholders I realized that I needed a new place to charge my cell phone. Here you can see I added a 12V powersupply to the pasenger side center counsole. It's tapped right into the stock cigarette lighter and is only hot when the ignition is on. ~SHIFTING~ This is a Type-R styled shift knob which replaces the deformed leather stocker. I think it looks great and goes well with new color scheme. That and I love its very simple and clean design. ~CURRENT INTERIOR~ And finally my most recent interior shot. You can see that I've added a black velour Dashmat to bring it all together. Still so much work to be done.

I also have an 89 Probe, which I have had about 5yrs. I thought that I was imagining that those empty spaces could be cupholders! Please email me and tell me how you did it!! My little bro is a machinically marvel & I damn well that he could also! Can be emailed at ehjmsmom@hotmail.com. Thanks a bunch!
