INTRODUCING THE WORLD'S MOST PRACTICAL VEHICLE: the new-for-2005 RezMobile Miser. Finally, a 21st century vehicle that even university students can afford!

The new 2007 RezMobile Miser now here!

These days, cars are getting so complex it makes people shutter to drive a newer model once the "warrantee" runs out. Whatever happened to the type of car that you could buy for the same price as a laptop computer? One that you could litterally fix with duct tape, chicken wire, or just by kicking it once and a while? The new RezMobile Miser is the solution.

Don't forget to vote in the poll, rate the ride, and sign the guestbook!

Things that will never go wrong with a RezMobile Miser:
Filling/maintaining coolant (aircooled engine), replacing expensive airbags, onboard computer breakdown, having to "boost" the car (pullcord engine start), power brake/steering failure (who needs that fancy stuff), waiting for the car to "warm up" during winter (it has a gas heater that ignites at the flick of a switch), repairing body rust, mistaking this car for another.

EXTERIOR:
Check out those stylish louvers on the rear!

The front air vents deliver in fresh air to the occupants while the big rear ones are for engine cooling.

This little car comes with dozens of engine options from a very economical 3.5 horsepower Briggs and Stratton engine to an optional high performance Vanguard V-Twin with a whopping 23 horsepower. All cars are equipped with a lightweight, infinite ratio pulley transmission that keeps the engine at constant power while the pulleys change in ratios to accelerate the car. Also capable of excellent fuel economy at any speed when cruising along at lower Rpm.

This car comes with a sunroof and a solar panel for keeping the battery charged (the battery is only used for emergency lighting and the stereo since it doesn't have an electic starter) Also a view of my high tech fog lamps!

INTERIOR:
The interior is orange in colour.. It's the opposite of blue which makes it really stick out when you want to find it in a parking lot!
Also note the single spoked steering wheel, the pine tree airfreshener, and the radar detector on the dash.

The speedometer goes up to 80km/h for those high speed 7-Eleven runs. Plus a tachometer with a 6000RPM redline!

TRIVIA (posted 12/06):
- The very first multi-view automobile design I made was way back in 1997. It was called the "Dagger" & It resembled a cross between a mid 90s Caddillac DeVille and Homer Simpson's pink 4 door car sedan. I still have the sketches from a similar 1999 version.
- in 2001, the car was renamed the "Gazelle" (inspired from an automotive question on 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?') and received an updated interior and exterior (althought it was still huge and Caddillac-esque)
- 2002 saw a downsized version (still called the Gazelle) based on a 4-door automobile featured in a book called 'Cutaway Cars' (1994). It was significantly more sporty.
- In 2003, the car was changed from front to rear-engined and featured pop-up headlamps (see blueprint drawing). The name was changed to "Glide" by "Gazelle" because this was the first time the 'infinite ratio' pulley transmission was introduced (the transmission was inspired by motorized skateboards. I had not even heard of a CVT at this time). Thus the car would seem to 'glide' under smooth acceleration.
- 'RezMobile' name was chosen in late 2003; inspired by a coworker that said his Pontiac Sunbird looked like a 'RezMobile'. I thought he was meaning a car owned by dormitory students. 'Miser' was chosen because of the lack of finances university students are confronted with.
- The side profile of the 2005 Miser is a precise traced projection from the original blueprints. The rest of the car was built around that 2D view somewhat haphazardly.
- Miser I was never intended to have a rear seat. It turned out that there was wasted space behind the seats when it was constructed, so in they went.
- The whole project from the first drawing to the finished product took less than 2 months.
- The width of the Miser I is just narrow enough to fit though a standard doorway (the mirrors need to be folded back)
- the 2-tone exterior is Ultramarine and Phalo Blue, while the interior is Cadmium Red Light
- The tail lights, rear deck lid, speakers in the headrests, and rear-engine design were inspired by the Pontiac Fiero
- Louvres on the rear window were inspired by the DeLorean DMC12
- The single spoked steering wheel and hubcap design were inspired by the Austin Martin Lagonda
- the gauge cluser layout was inspired by the AMC Pacer
- the dashboard design was inspired by the (3rd generation) Chrysler Cordoba

Check out my "real" rides sometime as well!
