My 1983 AMC Eagle SX4
Got it back in May 1992 from a couple that had bought it in Colorado for there daughter and left it in my office to imported to Mexico, it look different so I made them an offered and driven it ever since.
Last year made up my mind to rebuild it, so I purchase a 1985 Eagle wagon for parts.
These is what I done so far, (it is taking longer than expected):
Swap the 5 speed trany for the rebuild automatic transmission out of the wagon.
For the suspension I swap out the entire suspension from the wagon and install a 2 inch lift whit a Rancho 2” Add-A-Lift in the back and some heavy duty C spring clamps so the leafs wont fan out. For the front a 1” aluminum spacer in the top of the coil springs, all four shocks are KYB and the bushings are Energizer (red).
Overhaul the engine whit a High Torque Low RPM cam from compcam. Clifford intake and header whit a 2.5 inch exhaust pipe single. Motorcraft carburetor 2 barrel.
The differentials are from the wagon to match the transmission, off hand can remember the ratio but they are a bit lower than the originals.
The interior is gutted out for future upholstery, I all ready did the seats in saddle leather like that in the King Ranch pick/up.
I’ll try to keep you up dated on the progress.
2inch lift Rancho Add-A-Lift in the back, Alum. spacer in the front.
New Wheels and rubber B.F.Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A K/O.
