July 6th, 2006: Its been so long since I felt boost. Been too long since I last drove a car with torque...
but tonight, that fucking CHANGED!!! Some friends came over and bothered me to get it running again...after I got bored one day and soldered some extremely shitty wiring (Gabe, if you still have a Supra and show up here, I'm really sorry but this wiring is shitty as fuck!) and I say "soldered", not "resoldered" because it was sorta twisted together...not just "headlight wires", but ECU wires.
Put in new spark plugs (#5 and #6 were drenched in oil and didnt have a gap...), bolted the BOV back on, unbolted the halfass downpipe that I had on it from the turbo that was dragging, started it up....it hasnt idled this smooth in over a year!
Who says year-old gas doesnt run...I boosted with it and didnt hear any pinging! Although then again it may be because I'm running open turbo..
All it needs now is a new power steering rack and some new gas. PCV system still is sorta open, dont have a working O2 sensor (dont have one at all as of right now), some little shit here and there, but the car is practically streetable again!
As ghetto as it is, as unreliable as it should be, this is the only car I havent had to have towed, and quite frankly a car that starts on its first crank with properlly ordered new spark plugs (especially start as quick as it did) is a feat in itself, let alone drive down the street under forced induction!
Recently obtained "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell, the bible for turbocharging, and have found the most efficient combination of parts for my goals, which will be:
☼ GT35R, .63 A/R
☼ Custom 20.9" x 8" x 3" front mount intercooler, 3" in/out aluminum intake piping
☼ Custom front facing intake manifold with "long runner" intake style tubing
☼ TiAL BOV and wastegate
☼ MegaSquirt standalone ECU system, converted to work on a MAP setup
☼ Custom ceramic coated exhaust manifold with T3 footprint
☼ Custom hidden mandrel bent 3" exhaust with oversized Magnaflow muffler ending at about the middle center of the car
☼ Complete engine rebuild, aftermarket pistons, shot peened OEM rods, ARP hardware
☼ New synchros and shifter bushing, tranny oil change, differential oil change
☼ Oil filter relocation kit, better oil cooler, and thermostat bypass.
Engine timing, knock, A/F ratio, oil pressure, and boost will all be monitored via laptop.
In addition to all of these performance enhancers, no expence will be spared on supporting mods, such as wideband O2 sensor, 255 lph fuel pump, 550 cc injectors, stainless steel braided lines, AN fittings, and wiring work (whether new harness or repaired old harness)
MAF-T installed! I noticed a great increase in throttle responce, turbo responce, and top end.
