Original FoMoCo build 07/72, 3000V6GT
TOTAL AUSTRALIAN PRODUCTION FOR 1972
462 4-speed manual
163 3-speed automatic
There was a total of only 2,459 manual 3000GT's produced from 1969-1972, and a further 555 automatics. The GT's had a total restore, resprayed in new 2-Pak paint in the original 70's Superroo colour scheme, Yellow-Glow & Midnight-Black

The 3000V6 was rebuilt by MW Racing in Ballarat, Victoria. I had some engine parts chromed and fitted a Whiteline Racing strut brace. The original air cleaner had to be changed, but with a bit of effort I got a chrome after market filter to fit the Weber Carby. Combined with a Unifilter foam element it has made a massive difference to the sound and performance of the V6. Have just added the 5-Speed Supra Gearbox Conversion

How does 110mph @ 4500rpm sound!!

For more grunt from the V6, spend the money and get the heads, bottom end, timing gear, intake and exaust enhanced. Add a 5-speed Supra gearbox with better ratios to remove the sluggishness in 3rd, and she drives and sounds like a V8. This has been a 15 year project and am approaching $30k spent now.

gday, awesome car man
i just looked at a 1970 capri for sale, problem is its all in pieces, not a huge problem but knowing what parts are there and what arent, he says they are all there, anyways, its originally a 4 cyl motor with a 4spd manual, he has a rebuilt v6 ready to go in with a 5spd celica box, wondering is it hard to fit the box in? would i need to modify trans tunnel at all? is it relatively straight swap? i have found i can buy new speedo cable for it and clutch cables etc

Hey Jamie how u doing. Just thought I'd let u know that my Capri project hasn't been abandoned despite the apparent lack of progress. Just havn't had time to update the webpage. I am about 2 weeks away from the first coat of primer hitting the metal. Decided to spray it myself as I ran out of money, so should be interesting how good the finish is. At the momentmy main concern is just getting it back on the road. Anyway, hopefully within a month u'll see pics of her in final coat, (Vermillian Fire - Orange, with blackouts as per Aussie 1600GT) and within 2 months she should have all her inside back inside and on the road. Then I can set about rebuilding the 1600GT block.... It never bloody ends. By the way your ride is looking great. Catchya later.
Kieran
