HOW I DID THE VW BUG ROTARY RX-7 ENGINE
in the beginning there was one bug no real purpose after I did all the modifications to the engine I could think of the bug was not fast enough, my friend Tommy in Texas told me about engine adapters, that I could use any engine on a VW bug transition he suggested a ford 2.8 V6 he has had lots of experiences with this engines I tried one and did not like the fact that it stuck out the back to much to I did some research on other engine swaps and a mazda RX-7 rotary engine was the best option small and fit like a glove in the bug engine compartment, this project was made to be the most inexpensive hi hors power as possible, the most expensive thing was the engine adapter from “keened engineering products” I sold my old VW engine for $700.00,here is the list:

KEP engine adapter 500.00
Rotary engine from a RX-7 1982, 150.00
Galvanized fence pipe from home depot to run the coolant 20.00
Radiator from the same RX-7 15.00
Exhaust headers from ebay 40.00
Bullet muffler from ebay 35.00
Holley 650 carburetor 150.00( make to small holes to put the small hoses that drip oil in to the intake in the highest point of the carburetor the on the engine maintain the valve that controls the oil drip fully open so that your rotors have a constant feed of oil they love this)
Carburetor intake manful 25.00 this is my best creation for this set up (use a stock rx7 carb intake and a Holley carburetor adapter from your local AutoZone and you can bolt it to the RX-7 intake with a little drilling JB weld and bolts, or go to your local welder and have him weld the carburetor adapter to the intake manifold and Walla a $30.00 4 barrel intake manifold for your Rotary engine or you can pay 200.00 for the same thing from racing beet.com)

You can use a solid motor mounts because the rotary engine has no real vibrations and a must a stage 2 or better clutch and plate I recommend a brass clutch disk, you will have some bad ass horse power and you will need the best method to transfer it to the wheels.

GOOD HUNTING
