I bought the 1975 Mercury Cougar XR-7 in 1982. It still runs well, and I get it on the road a couple of times  a year.  It appears that the Cougar's rust is too extensive to permit easy or affordable repair, so it will have to stay as is, as a monument to the '70s and the damage that salt-covered roads can do to a car.
