In February 2005, I dished out $1,700 to have a 3.5" Downey coil over suspension lift put on my truck. I have Bilsteins in the front and Rancho in the rear. Now, I always envisioned my truck being a lot bigger than that, but practicality set in when I married someone 5?3" tall. This setup worked fine while I ran my puny 31" ProComps... but I always had plans to go BIGGER!!!
After getting my new tires & rims in August of 2005, I was getting rubbing issues while at full lock, even with the 3.5" lift. So, I did what any normal person would do? I grabbed the Dremel and started trimming excess metal. This helped, but it was not a cure? only a band-aid. The truck needed to be taller (oh darn!).
Next, I installed a 2-inch 4Crawler (aka Roger Brown) body lift to help clear my 33?s. The install went well as I had help from some members of Yotatech.com. I gained the clearance I had needed and my truck looked better with the extra height.
