My triple black 1968 Mercury Cougar XR7. This car has the GT Package. Which means there is a GT-390 engine under the hood. There is some other goodies like competition steering and a 9 inch limited slip 3.25 gear ratio rear end. Also, a C-6 automatic transmission. This car was originally Grecian Gold w/ a black vinyl top and black leather insides. I have nothing against the color at all. It's one of my first picks. But, I bought this car triple black and everyone wants me to keep it this way. The torque thrust wheels was my idea. I seem to think they match the car perfectly and even more since it's black. The car has rare options like an AM 8 Track radio that reads MERCURY across the facing. Cool! The 1967 & 68 Merc Cougars are my favorite out of any Cougar models. I've wanted one for years and luckily got a rare one. This car is an original S Code car and it drives extremely well.
It came from Stuarts Draft, Virginia were I got a bargain. The owner sent me one pic by email and I drove all the way down there with the money. Immediatly when I saw this car, I had to buy it. I drove it from there to Annville, KY the same day. Very long drive. The image before last also shows my 1993 Cougar. A little of the old and a little of the new. How things have changed. Also, the last image show what the car would look like in Grecian Gold with the torque thrusts. What color should I paint the car?
