This is my Artesian Turquoise 1966 Chevelle Malibu with 15" rally wheels. It was an early graduation present to myself (Spring '04 Bachelor's Degree in Mech Engr). It has a stock 283 (with a little set of headers), P/G trans and 10 bolt rear. This is about to change! She'll be getting new paint, a cowl hood, a new interior with buckets and factory console, and I will be swapping out the SB for a Gen VI BB that I have. The BB will get a stroker crank to go from 454 to around 489 ci, aluminum heads, 10.5:1 pistons, and a full roller valvetrain. The P/G will give way to a manual (I know, it's easier with an auto), and the 10 bolt will be replaced with a Moser 12. I estimate 650-675HP with the new motor, which I hope will get me into the 10's with the right gearing. I've got a lot of details to work out, but I'll post pictures of each upgrade along the way - Kirk.

kcb38's 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle This is my Gen VI big block, AKA: "The Vault" (It's a big chunk of cast iron where all my money goes).

kcb38's 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle When it's done it should be 489 ci and put out enough HP to make life interesting.

Thanks for looking - in the future, there should be lots of good stuff here about what fits, what works, and what doesn't. If you're interested in GM A-bodies, go to the Team Chevelle website, their Tech Forum is the best. Look at my favorites for the link. Hope to see you on the street, Kirk.

4/2/04 - Just got new bucket seats (need to be recovered) and am looking for a console so I can do the tranny swap. More pics coming soon, Kirk

3/31/05 Wow, it's been a while! Work is progressing slowly - I've since added gauges, fixed an overheating problem, got a new aluminum radiator and a few other small items. These include a nice new forged stroker crank and H beam rods, a Powerforce race damper and a Centerforce flywheel. Since the new rotating assembly will be internally balanced, the damper and flywheel are neutral balanced as if for a 396 or 427. And since I plan to rev them for all they're worth, I made sure that they were SFI rated as well. Once I make up my mind about the heads, I'll be ordering pistons and sending the block and bottom end for machining and assembly. Summer's coming and it looks like I'm going to get to try my hand at body work since some pea brain dropped a tree limb on my L/F fender. I think the next project is going to be a front end shakedown though because something's clunking and it's driving me nuts! Hopefully the next pics I post will be of a complete short block!
kcb38's 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle11/15/05 Well, no completed short block yet but I have picked up some new SRP 18cc dome pistons and got a killer deal on a set of AFR 305 heads. I've been looking for a deal on these things for over 2 yrs now. They even come with the right springs for the solid roller cam I'll be using. Sweet! Also got some vintage Cal Custom finned valve covers to top them off.
12/01/05 Picked up a Victor Jr. manifold for the big block this week and my new console is in from OPGI. More on that later. My goals for the winter are to get the bucket seats and the console in and to get the short block built.
3/17/06 Picked up a few more pieces for the motor - I got a smokin' deal on a kicked out oil pan on ebay and also got a set of Isky Red Zone roller lifters from Mike Lewis at Lewis Racing Engines. Look him up, he'll save you some bucks on the good stuff.

Kirk, Nice ride, hope you enjoy the pedals,I know I will enjoy the pedal that you sent me, it will be a year or so, but they will be used. It was great dealing with you, its nice to know that there are honest decent people left in the world. If you should need anything in the future let me know and maybe we can work a deal again. Lets see more pictures !!!!! Rudy
