He kept it for awhile and then sold it. I always told myself I would own that car one day. After five owners and ten years later my day came. Seems My cousin bought it and then sold it to my brother. Then in 1989 I got it. It was really tired and looking bad. The original motor was gone and replaced with a 71 350. I stripped it down and repainted it. I installed a 442 hood.
Here is a photo after I restored it the first time.
Afer that I slowly bought parts to rebuild the engine. I located the aluminum intake that was once on it. In 1994 I rebuilt the engine. I put in a bigger Lunati Cam with enough lift to give it a rumble.I installed Hedman Headers and the aluminum intake with a 650 Holley four barrel carb.
In 1995 I went through a bad divorce and had to sell my Olds in 1996.
Yes! This is a picture of me. I modified it ! I actually have a 72 442 that looks JUST like this one! Actually I have TWO like this! There next. One stock one Pro Street!! Now back to the story!
So I sold it back to my cousin. Then his Uncle who totally trashed it. Then another friend bought it and once again I got it back in 2000. I detailed it and rebuilt the front end. I replaced the exhaust system ,installed a dualgate shifter from a Hurst/Olds and made a 1100 mile voyage to Rockford, Illinois. With the high gear rearend I was getting abut 26 miles to a gallon! My friend who had bought it in 1979 went with me. I have many pictures from all of the years that I have owned it. So stay tuned! Here are some photos from some carshows that I put it in after I got it back. I have some from Rockford ,Illinois too . Put them here later.
Here are some photos of the white guages I made for it. It really stands out!
HAVE YOU HUGGED A TREE TODAY? This is my 5 year old. He is my car buddy too! Loves them! He was about 2 when I took this photo.
I am also redoing it once again. So it should be ready in 2008. Here it is at the moment. Not too pretty. But over the years that darned vinyl top has once again caused rust to start. So I ripped it off took at the rear glass,it was leaking anyway, and killed, cut and took out the rusted areas. I also realized that when I first restored this I was on a major budget and stuffed the quarters with tin and bondo. This looked good and you couldn't tell it! Even if I did do it I was proud of it. But I have since cut it out and replaced the cancer! UPDATE! UPDATE! Asof 5/2008 I have yet to get it back together. I had some problems with the paint so I backed off of it after the 4th try! I have all new inerior and have just got to get it together. I will do this soon. After I finish the Nova. Thanks for looking!
Mike has passed away, but one of his sons will update his page and we are going to finish up his cars, so enjoy. Thanks for looking.
