As you saw on the last page, the interior is GUTTED ! I ordered a new a stering wheel, black carpet, racing seats and have modified my dash to accomodate a 4in midrange and tweeter from my dynaudio component set.
I decided to start with the MIDDLE section of the car, and then move on to the rear (hatch), and then when i get my new seats and decide what i want to do with my door panels, i'll finish the front part up. I smashed my center counsle to pieces because it was broken in a bunch of places, and i got tires of looking at it, so i thought to myself...."if i break it, i'll be forced to by a new one". Of course, i have plans for the new one, but i'm not giving that away just yet!
So here we are in the rear seat area. The following pic is the layout that my I decided would suit my needs best. I wanted most of what i am adding to be REMOVABLE for track use. I probably won't be taking all of it out on a regular basis, but when battle of the imports caomes around this summer, you can bet your ass i'll have the car gutted ready to roll.
This is after the fleece was streched over the amp rack and factory side panels. There will appear to be 3 amplifiers, when there are only 2...more on this later.
This is a "skeleton" for my nitrous bottles that i made using MDF, Zip ties, and screws! whats a guy to do when he runs low on supplies, and he needs to get things done =)
Before i streched the fleece over the nitrous bottle bracket, i reinforced it with fiberglass(which i had none of at the time i was making the "skeleton"), and got rid of the zip ties.
Here is a pic of the nitrous bottle holder, and the amp rack both cover in fleece. this kinda gives a visual of what the outcome will be (if i don't change my mind for the thousandth time)
I glassed the amp rack 1st, and while it was in its "rubbery" stage, i cut away the material where the amps are going to be mounted. It is 100 easier to cut the material with a razor blade in this stage, other than waiting for it to completly dry, and using a air saw, or grinder. Fiberglass dust is the worst !
After i glassed the Bottle holder, i cuffed it up with sand paper, and applied another thick layer of fiberglass resin to help stiffin it up a bit(I also did this to the amp rack)
Here is a pic of the rack, and bottle holder in the car after being glassed.
This is the part where i check for fitment, and make sure it all fits as planned. As you can see.....it fits. I had one little thing that i didn't like and that was the bottles. You can't really tell from this pic, but one of the nozzles sat a tad bit higher than the other, and it bugged me, so i took a grinder to it, and made a bracket on the underside, and bingo......they are even now.
As you can see, there appears to be 3 Xtant amplifiers in the rear seat area. like i stated above, there are only 2. On the pass. side is a X1001 mono amp, and in the middle is a X604 4 channel amp. On the drivers side, is a amp COVER from a X1001. Under the cover i will have spare fuses, allen wrenches, screw drivers, and things that are needed for spur of the moment tweaking, or emergency situations at the track.
Can you guess what my favorite brand of Amplifier is?
