Escape/Tribute cold air intake mod. Approx. 20 minutes to complete.

Remove screws and plastic cover from drivers wheel well. Caution: there is also a 10mm bolt on the underside of the fender holding the plastic cover. You may be able to get to the resonator without completely removing the plastic wheel well cover. If you can pull it back and hold it out of the way or have someone help.

You will see a black plastic tank held to the frame with one bolt. Remove bolt and pull down on the tank to remove.

Resonator removed.

After removal you will see the black plastic ring where the resonator attached to the air intake duct.

Now you will be drawing air in from the fender area and from the front grille area just behind the headlamp assembly. Replace the stock air filter with a higher flow K&N or equiv. This will give you maximum air flow with the stock air box and intake pipe. Probably not quite as good as a MAC but cheaper and still looks stock.

Hi Ken whats the function of the resonator? Does it affect anything in the intake if you remove it? i.e. more intake noise or something?

Thanks.

Hi Ken thanks for the tip on removing the resonator. When removed you just have to clean the k&N filter more regular with the cleaner? The area where the resonator was, does look clean and is well protected so it shouldn't get contaminted much faster. Thanks again!
