Oct 07: Well it's that time already, the Firebird is parked for the winter. I took some new pics. I had bought some wheels that were off of a camaro for $100 and I cleaned them up and painted them. I think they look pretty good.

Apr 11/07: I posted some new pics of the parts car. The car was leaking antifreeze pretty bad but that turned out to be a hose that missed getting tightend, it's still leaking a bit but I don't know where from. Other than that it's running pretty good. I gotta due like the general tune up though I think, spark plugs, injector cleaner etc.

Apr 1/07: I got the car insured and I'm finally driving it again :D. Theres still a couple little bugs to be worked out (like the wiper fluid won't spray and one of the headlights won't go down) but nothing major. I'm so excited to have the car back after like 3 years.

Mar 4/07: Last weekend I got the motor put in my car and last night I finished hooking everything up and guess what, IT STARTED FIRST TRY!!! Thats right, the Firebird is BACK!! I just gotta figure out a problem with the shift cable and then wait for the snow to melt, after that, let the good times roll. :D

Feb 11/07: I got the parts car moved and the motor is out, tomorrow I hope to get the rest of the stuff off of it that I want and hopefully start taking the motor out of my car. Pics of the parts car can be found on page 7.

Feb 9/07: There was a problem with the trailer, so I wasn't able to move the car but I rented a tow dolly for tomorrow so it's getting moved FOR SURE this time and hopefully by the end of next week my Firebird will be running again!!

Jan 25/07: I'm going to be moving the 88 Firebird to my dads tomorrow and maybe start tearing it apart too. Then in a couple weeks during "Reading Week" I'm going to do some major work on it, hopefully I'll be able to get the motor fully swaped and get my car running, although I won't be able to drive it for a long time still do to the fact that it's winter and too slipery to be driving around a Firebird plus its not good for the car with all the salt and crap on the roads right now. :D

Nov 2006: I bought an '88 Firebird from the MPI auction for $275, it has the 2.8L V6 with only 160,000 km's so hopefully I'll be able to get my Firebird running again soon. I'll also try to get some pics of the '88 I bought, though it was a write off because someone rolled it and the roof is caved in so theres really not much to look at.

I drew a picture of an idea I have of fiberglassing the lower part of a Camaro bumper to the upper part of the Firebird bumper. Let me know what you think of it.

Update: Mar/06, Well, it's been sitting for pretty much 2 years now and I still havn't been able to do anything with it; so depressing.... I'm trying to find a replacement 2.8 because I can't afford anything else with paying for school, but I'm not even having much luck with that.

Update: Mar/05, ok so here's whats happening with my bird, right now im gonna just find a 4.3L engine out of a blazer or something and put that in for now. i chose a 4.3 cuz it would be cheaper for me than finding a 5.0 or 5.7 right now. i still plan on putting a 5.7 in eventually, just not in the near future. i also wanna get a posi rear axle as soon as i can. thanks to everyone who has given me info on the v8 swap, i will use it eventually.

Update: May/04 well, its official, my motor is toast so now im in the market for a new motor:( I might just try and get the motor from my camaro running and drop that in for the time being.

Update: The reason it was shaking was just bad tires, but now it's started knocking really bad so i haven't been able to drive it yet :( I have to tow it to my dads to see if he can figure it out, i also think the tranny is going on it.

Update:April/04-I just brought it home after being in storage for the winter and theres alot problems with it, it starts to shake like mad around 65 km/h, the engines not running right at all and keeps stalling. :(

Hey, i'm 20 yrs old and this is my 87 Firebird. As of right now it's pretty much stock everything. It has the 2.8L V6 that came with about 135 HP. If spring ever gets here, I'm gonna put some better rims on it and some new tires, its in storage for the winter right now.

Right now i have a Sony 208 watt deck and some older clarion speakers that were in it when i bought it. I will be changing them later.

If you guys have any suggestions about what i should do to my car let me know. And don't forget to rate it, thanks.

Hey man, nice car. I have gone through 2 camaros and now own a firebird. i've had my fair share of problems between the three of them. my only advice is "dont give up". it seems like you have got some good plans for that car in the future, and i think it'll turn out great, even if it takes a while. if you get anything done to it keep me updated.

Nice Firebird. You've got great plans for it. Just keep plugging away at it, you will get there little by little. It is hard--and depressing at times when you have little time and or money. You'll do it though--don't give up. She's worth the heartache. Have checked at local cruise spots and talked to people? It's often a good way to find engines and other miscellaneous parts. Just talk to people and ask around--I bet you'll find something. Good luck with your future plans!
