83GTCoupe's 1983 Toyota Celica Thanks for looking. Don't forget to look at page 2 for another car I'm working on. I hope you enjoy this summary, and the pictures of my project. These are pics of the car as it is right now. I have scaned the rest of them from the 5X7 photo's I have from the body shop, and the past work I've done on the vehicle. Those can be seen on the following pages. The reason for the name Frankenceli is because almost every piece of the body has been replaced, except for the floor pans, hood, under the hood, and center section trunk pan. The rest has been replaced with new or used, rust free parts.

*Update* Frankenceli is now Supercharged! I've added several new pages, with more recent pics of the Celica mods & parts

This car has won my heart, and become one of my most favored projects. All of my other cars are American Antique, and Classic Muscle cars. 83GTCoupe's 1983 Toyota Celica

Thanks to celicagts.com, I have learned more than I thought possible about these cars. You guys are a wealth of information, and I apreciate all of the help, and info.83GTCoupe's 1983 Toyota Celica

This was originally a Cream/Yellow color, and didn't have the flare kit. I searched all over for rust free flared fenders, and purchased the trim pieces, the rocker panels, and quarter panels with flares, from my local Toyota dealership. I also retired the factory steal rims, for a nice set of junkyard Supra/GT-S rims. I plan to either paint them to match the car, and leave the center caps chrome, or polish them to a high shine, and accent them with the color of the car in the insides of the wheel openings.

I plan to finish the body and paint. From there, I will have to decide which engine mods I want to do. I have added a supercharger recently, and am still in the tuning stages with it. I'm running 5lbs of boost for now, until I can overhaul the engine. My main goal is to piss off Mustangs, and have a nice looking car, that's different, but not riced out. I don't want a typical Fast & Furious turd, like most of the crappy Honda's running around these days. Until recently, I was only concentrating on the "All show & No go" mods, and handling/suspension upgrades. The powerplant, and drivetrain were going to be the last thing I do on this car, but I got itchy for more HP, and spent the money on the supercharger.

It has 220,800 miles on it right now, and never really lets me down, aside from the regular maintinence items. I have replaced the original drum brake SRA, with a rear from a 1979 Supra, with disk brakes. It bolts up with no problem, but I have had to do some serious research, and some modifications to the parking brake cables to make it work. You don't need to replace, or modify the rest of the brake system in any way. I'll update this page with more info later, if anyone is interested in learning more about this car, and what it takes to get it to this point from a rust bucket.
