The engine in the fairlane is the stock 289, spiced up a bit. It was the project for the summer, and we ran into what seems like every problem possible building this thing. Here's a list of what went into the engine
-Stock 289 block, bored .030 over
-.030 over higher compression pistons with sealed power rings
-Crank Ground .010 under
-Mild Street Cam (Lift: exh-472 int 448 Dur: exh-280 int-270)
-Hydraulic lifters
-3 Angle Valve Job
-Performance Valve springs
-New rocker arms and pushrods
-Beveled all the oil holes, and painted the whole inside surface of the motor and heads with glyptol (to give the oil a little boost)
-Edelbrock performer intake manifold
-Edelbrock performer 600 cfm 4 bbl carb
-All the rest of the normal rebuild things... new water pump, timing gears/chain, bearings, harmonic dampener, and I'm sure a bunch of other things I'm not remembering)
