~ENGINE & SUSPENSION~
NEW VS THE OLD Pictured in the New Vs Old pics is a Ractive Type 8 Strut Bar, bought for like $40 dollars at DriverFX.Com I think they took it off the site here's another site with a better bar i suppose, but costs more Andy's Auto Sport (Easy Installation)And helps tighten those turns we make on a daily bases.
This is a picture of my old short air intake that i made. Cone bought for like $30 dollars at any autozone and the little rubber part was bought at Homedepot for like 3 dollars. I also took out the MAF screen (found in the MAF screen sensor area in the air intake) and noticed a big improvement on the air flowing into my engine. I also put the small little sensor that was in the actual air box in a hole that i drilled in the rubber part that i bought. I did have the short air intake for like a year and was very pleased with it while i had it in. (A simple and quick project with fast results)
Well i decided to UpGrade the Intake. And I went all out, making this intake from a 92-96 Prelude two part intake found on Ebay.com for like $39 dollars. I thought the short air was a big change for me, but the cold air has been even better. You run Great revs and at high speeds it's even smoother. It also comes with some wistles when the air is being pulled into the intake which your ear can't help notice when your windows are down for the ride. I just cut all the parts to where they would work for me and made it work. I did have two extra cuplers laying around for what i was going for tho.
The next part i decided to upgrade to was this RSM Tower Brace Bar found at HighRevmotorsports.com (Site is now gone ??) for $80. And i know for some thats some money, but i hade to have it and the main thing about these bars is that they stabilize the car. For instance when the car hits a bump or dip the shock or strut would move down on it's own, but with the bars it pulls all the sides evenly making your ride feel flatter and giving you more control along with sharper turns without the force on the car. When i first got these bars i was drifting all over the place, they really are fun at times. I did only start out with just the front bar which was a great improvement comparied to stock, but the back just worked well in conjuction to the front bar. (You Have To Get At Least the Front Bar tho.)
I wanted to upgrade the engine a bit and with this RSM Lower Engine Mount $50 dollars At HighRevmotorsports.com, (Site is now gone ??) It made the shifts alot stronger without the jerk, especially when you slam the gas no more engine whiplash(but that's only that i know of in my automatic v-6). There is more vibration in the car, but honestly it feels like a performance vibration and nothing i am sure you wont mind. You'll Love this part cause it lets you feel what the engine has to offer.
This Vs picture shot is the Old Vs the New lower engine mount and i have looked every where for these parts to give a new web site to buy and all i could come up with is Car Customs.Net (Note: This is for 2.4 engines because grand am didn't have anything under it, but Cavalier has the same engine in it....for 3.1 V6 engines, i believe the upper engine mount is the same for the 2.4 and 3.1 cause thats what my part looked like)
~Update 03/02/08~ - - I did only have the lower engine mount in for a year and my girlfriend got tried of the slight vibrations it put in the car at idleing, but just a note it never vibrated while my foot was on the gas. So i just bought a stock lower engine mount and I DID KEEP the Upper and still a great Improvement.
Prothane Upper Engine Mount Insert $17 dollars found at HighRevmotorsports.com (Site is now gone ??) This part is best when used in conjuction with the Lower engine mount. I bought it about the same time as the lower engine mount, but never put it in until recently and i am glad i had it put in. I thought the lower engine mount was good on its own, but this even made the engine even shift better with less jerk on shifts. It fits in conjuction with the factory upper mount and goes together like a puzzle piece making it stronger on the upper part.
Polyurethane end links found at any Autozone for like $15 dollars, but if you your not near a AutoZone buy online at Andy's Auto Sport and for more info on the endlinks visit ENERGY"S HYPER-FLEX I bought the red ones because thats all they had at my local store, but if you buy the black one's they put black polyurethane components with graphiteto add a lubrication property to it according to the web site, but this is a simple upgrade any one can do and makes you turns feel stiffer and doesn't put force to the car or to your passengers inside. Works great, and the handling is upgraded a bit more which is a plus.
Now look at the diffence, one is crap and the other a great performance mod which allows you to make turns at high speeds that feel like nothing.
Polyurithane tie rod bushings which were installed about 2 years ago and are Still Holding up Pretty Well!!
~GRILLS & LIGHTS~
The Two Grills in this picture look better in person and the one on the left looks alot better than the picture shows... i think maybe it looks all bent up cause of my digital camera
This is a picture of the lights i used. It really does change into all those colors, but i would have just been happy with just white....
Here is what the light looks like up close...I bought them at Pepboys for like $55-65 dollars and I really think they are tight cause it's a clear glass with that bright 55w blue bulb inside and just think this light is off right now...
Here is a blur shot of just the led lights on the fog light i didn't get a pic of the light itself but maybe in the near future i will take one
...This is the switch for the for lights that i ran, i did run wires just for the fog lights and switch while still keeping the factory switch and wires untouched for maybe some future modding.....(more lights)...oh and by the way the blue led that you see in the pic on the switch also changes to the color that is on the fog light so right now it's on the blue color of the fog light and would change to any of the other colors as well
This is something that i wanted to do just cause i felt like it was an easy mod. Procarparts Clear Front Reflectors found at Procarparts.com (i think they took them off the site now and i have looked everywhere to add another site up, with no luck) I know that some people made theirs for a cheap price but i just looked everywhere for them and gave up an just bought some.
I like them and it gives the front just A sharper look.
~AUDIO~ - - - -Well out with the old factory and in with the replacements....
This first off is the 6X9's that i had put in..
I was going to go the route of 6.5 speakers for the front but at the time i just went with what was quick and easy although i did put the 6.5 grills on the out side to give it the look....
I think that this was a quick yet effective move.. I started out with just this Pioneer Head Unit and figured i had this so why not make everything else pioneer (and also you can see that i have no gas in the tank..) I haven't gone the Route of Sub or an amp yet, but if i did i would prob. just get something that is simple and prob Pioneer just to go with the flow and thats it for now.....
~Just Some Car Pics~ This was a picture right after the body shop and i know that i don't have a body kit or anything, but hey i am happy with what i got . . . . . . . . And Just Another
